Planning a solo trip with just the dog for company and looking at installing a backup camera with a couple of side cameras. Dog is pretty smart but not much help backing into camp sites.

From what I have seen multiple cameras usually eliminates possibility of wireless cameras so I have been looking at a wired system, probably the Rear View Safety System with a Quad View Monitor:

http://www.rearviewsafety.com/safety-solutions/backup-camera-systems/wired-backup-camera-systems/rvs-770616-2133-three-camera-system-with-multi-camera-connect-disconnect-cable-model.html

Not cheap, but less expensive than running into something.

The side cameras will relatively easy to power off of the side marker lights above the pass-through doors and then up to the tongue.

My question is whether anybody has had any success fishing a backup camera wire through the rear wall ? I would use the center rear marker light for power and ground and then run the wire inside the wall and then under rear bunk. Then it would relatively easy to push it out the existing wire holes and drop a few screws from the plastic underbelly and zip tie/secure it to run up to the tongue at the front.

I have the Eagle with the vacuum bonded fiberglass walls. Does this make it impossible to fish wire through ? I have seen the stick-on wire housing that go down the rear of RV's but I would prefer to have it inside the walls to maintain factory appearance. It is too cold and snowy to start pulling out lights etc. to see whether it is possible and I would like to order the kit to get this done first thing in the spring.

I have a RVS rearview cam on the back of my TT (hardwired) Drilled the hole passed the cable into the inside the filled the hole with silicon sealant. No problems or leaks in 3+ years. Ran the cable down through the floor (spray foam to seal it) and forward to the tongue jack

Thanks Sean, that is the info I was looking for. I have a few more questions:

A) Did you mount your rear camera up high and power off of marker light ?

 Did you get the RVS wiring harness and does it draw power from a connection to the trailer battery or the TV ? Is it just a bundle of insulated wires on one end that plugs into camera and a plug on other end that connects to the TV ?

C) I am not familiar with the floorplan of your 308. When you say you drilled a hole inside, did drill the hole in the exterior wall and run cable in between interior and exterior wall or run it down the interior wall and camoflouge it ? With the BHBE, if I punched through to the interior, I could some of that wire channel stuff and run it down the head of rear bunks in the corner with the bathroom if I needed to.

D) Do you have any pictures you could post ?

I'll take some pictures and post when I install mine once the snow melts.

It is hardwired so it draws power from the Tow Vehicle. YEs up near the roof just a little to the left of center

It is a complete kit with everything you need included. (get the 5th Wheel kit. It has connectors for attaching the trailer wire to the tow vehicle)

I went into the cabinet then down beside the rear window, into the entertainment system and out the floor. I posted some photos in the Mod section you can search that to see how I did it.
