4 electrical issues in first 2 montbs

We bought a 2016 Jayflight SLX 265RLSW at the beginning of July. Our first trip an hour from home we had the GFCI trip due to a loose wire, since then this has happened 4 times. Not every trip, but we are never sure if we will have working outlets when we get to each location. The last time they found two loose wires in the breaker box, and we are still waiting to hear what happened this time. However this time we smelled burning right before it happened.

Thankfully we have one working outlet that the microwave is plugged into that works even when the GFCI is tripped so we run an extension cord to the bedroom so my husband can run his CPAP. And we run the fridge on propane.

It seems like this might be a forever problem, I was hopeful at first that it was a fluke, but now it seems like our trailer has major wiring issues and bad connections that aren't holding up with travel. What should our next steps be? Our dealer just keeps fixing it, but we are heading out in the morning and our trailer is still at the dealership!!

Explain the critical need for reliable electric power and ask the dealer to go through each and every wiring point to tighten, and suggest using a thread locker on the wiring nuts and screw connections.

X2, sounds like Jayco might have had a newbie doing the wiring. One thing with tts, that is different than homes is the bouncing as they travel. I had to tighten all the connection at the main circuit box. This issue will be solved in a little time.

At this point you've gone from an inconvience to a hazard.. If your having this many loose connections, burning smells, etc.. Your just one electrical short of a burned out TT.. I would take this back ASAP to the dealer and have a certified electrician go over the entire unit. I understand things don't always fit or work right in a new rig, but this is one of those things that I have ZERO tolerance for...

This is one of the many things I don't like about the RV industry. When I built homes they went through numerous inspections by the state and local inspectors. We even tried modular homes that were built in a factory and trailered to the home site, even these homes had to pass state inspections. So how is it that the RV industry doesn't have any third party inspections on the state or local level before shipment. And they also don't have to follow any building codes like egress window sizing in sleeping areas, egress door sizing, hight of step risers, etc., etc., etc. I sure hope to never be caught inside if there is a fire. If my trailer had electrical problems after the dealer tried to fix it once I sure would not take it back to them, their techs are probably not licensed electricians. I would either go through every connection myself or hire a real electrician to look it over.

I am retired electrician (33 yrs) and had breaker tripping issue with my 2016. The outlets they install are siemens (good brand) and are made for fast install but a special tool is needed to replace/repair them. I wonder if your dealer has that tool to press the wire into the outlet. The way they wire these units is to much on one circuit. If the GFCI trips you will loose a lot of outlets. On our 27 DSRL unit the one outlet by the sink, the one under the counter top the exterior, the frig and more was on ONE circuit. Plug the coffee pot in and nothing else. I found this out by trying to do pancakes one morning moving one one outlet to another.
I rewired.
This was simple for me and I understand your situation. You may need an electrician not a dealer. You need to take cabinets apart and micro out refrig for wire chase new breakers.

Totally agree. And where's the persons conscience who's doing the wiring, knowing if they do a crappy job and create a potential fire hazard for the people inside? You'd think the wiring would be the one thing they made sure was correct. Rant over

We has same issue of gfci tripping even when none of the outlets were being used. I pulled out the gfci outlet and found the line(incoming hot wires) had the hot black wire in correct place but the white ground wire went to the load terminal of the outlet. After I moved that white wire to the line part of the outlet and the outgoing white wire to the load terminal I have had no problems.
