I was deployed to Iraq with the Louisiana National Guard (199th IBCT out of Alexandria, Louisiana) 5 years ago today. I am Proud to be a Veteran, and even more proud to be Wounded Warrior.

Xtruckerbob, hope all is well with you. It was 10 years ago this past Sunday that I landed in Iraq (FOB Speicher) for my tour. If your are ever in the Kansas City area, I'll buy you a beer or two.

God bless you both! Thank you for the freedom that you provide for my family and friends every day. My father was US Army, one uncle lost his leg in Palermo Italy in WW2, multiple uncles fought in WW2 and Korea.

I have the utmost respect and admiration for the men and women of our armed services. It is a shame that they are so often forgotten or overlooked in modern society.

Ditto if you're ever in MI. I was in Iraq in '90-'91 and again in '94-'95. I actively recruit veterans too if you're ever looking for a job.

Iraqvet 5 and Snake Plissken, 1st let me say Thank you for your service as well. I would like to swap my beer for a Diet Dr Pepper or Ice Tea. In 1991 I was in Air Force Res and was sent to Panama and Honduras instead of Iraq. I did not know how lucky I was. In April 2010 I was in a MRAP when the Rhino set off an IED which exploded in just front of the truck. 3 days later I had a stroke. (Both the Army and the Va stepped up) Any way if ya'll are ever headed south I have a RV site at the house with full hook up with but only 30 amp plug.

Snake Plissken I have a couple Vet friends who are still looking for a job. As you know for some vet it is so hard.

If any of them are in the great Midwest let me know. The company I work for has many DoD contracts and I have some Army contracts that always have a few openings. They aren't Lockheed Martin type jobs but they are decent paying jobs that allow a lot of my workers to feel connected to the military still.
