I look on this site but couldn't find anything other than to send me to the Forest River Forum pop-ups. I researched this issue over the last few months, watched a few YouTube vids which were not the Jayco models and yes the Bungee Cords are different between different brands. They mount more or less the same though.
I ordered the Paracord replacement cords twice as suggested by the YouTube's but both were the wrong size (too small) and sent back. I checked with Jayco Parts out of Phoenix but they are looking into it but haven't heard back yet. Since 1 of my Bungee cords broke I decided just to use 1/2" dia Bungee cord, this is a 72" long Bungee Cord, I removed the end hooks, easy to do. One of the YouTube'ers in a pinch use the 1/2" Bungee Cord with no issue's as he was out on vacation.
Tools/Parts Needed:
Drill
Drill bit 3/16"
Rivets 3/16 x 1/2-5/8 Large Flange Aluminum
Rivet Tool
Clear or Black Sealant
Utility Knife
Needle Nose Pliers or shrink tubing
Small piece of Aluminum or steel angle
Paracord or a 1/2" Bungee Cord, Minium 70" long
Lower the Roofs down, wedge the one roof up high enough to be able to drill out the lower Bungee mount rivets. Lower the roof a little bit more and drill out the top roof rivets. Remove the broken Paracord completely/clean both mounting areas of any old sealant.
Raise the roof enough so you can see from under the roof the mounting hole for the bungee cord to pass through, insert one end of the new cord from inside of the roof. The other end will be more difficult to get through this opening, since you will be trimming the ends off of the Bungee cord/Paracord I use needle nose pliers to force the other bungee cord through the opening. You can also use shrink tube, once heated and it wraps around the end of the cord it makes it easier to push through the opening. Raise the roof enough to give you space for the rivet tool, position the new bungee/paracord at the loop end, apply sealant all around the bungee and inside the mount/rivet this mount onto the lower section, be sure the Bungee/paracord is in the correct direction. With about 6 inches of Bungee or Paracord extending out of the roof section, raise the roof into the lock position. Check to see if the tension is the same as the other paracord on the other side of the roof, if not, lower the roof and either give it more tension or less by adjusting the bungee/paracord at the top roof mount. Raise Roof again to the Lock Position and recheck your adjustment, re-lower the roof to readjust if needed, if OK, apply the sealant and rivet the top mount. Cut-off any excess of the Bungee/paracord, I used the angle to protect that rubber seal on the roof section from the utility knife cutting.
Done
I had to order the Rivet's, couldn't find the size I needed locally, I got them off of Ebay. I ordered the 72" long Bungee Cords off of Amazon(pack of 3).
Once I hear back from Jayco Parts and if they offer a kit I will probably get it for next time but for now I am going to see how just by using the Bungee Cord if it will workout or not.
