Has anyone experience having flat tire and AAA road side assistance ?
What did they do in that situation ?
Are they equipped to fix the tire in place ?
Or they just swap in spare tire, and let us fix the tire ourselves ?
I am thinking if it's worth signing up for that

We have good sam roadside assistance and they swap out your spare. Some may be able to repair a nail in your tire, etc. but their contract usually calls for replacing your bad tire with your good spare. You may be able to make other arrangements on the phone when you talk with them but will cost you extra money usually.

My experience with AAA was they do not fix the Tire just replace. Another time my TT had a flat and the Tow Truck operator said they do not work on Trailer only the Tow vehicle even with the RV Plus program. He did notice the Right Rear tire on my Truck was Flat (wink-wink) and he replaced the flat with the spare. That was how the documentation was written up.
It may vary around the country depending on the AAA organization you received the plan from.

AAA was a huge disappointment on the two occasions we really needed it for our car problems in the Washington D.C. area. You don't mention RVs but I'm assuming you have one. I can't imagine using them for RVs. I'd go with CoachNet or Good Sam. Much better coverages and their CS people know something about RVs.

AAA didn't offer RV roadside in California. We did a lot of research and ended up with the Roadside rider on my Auto and RV policies; grand total of $27 year combined, and it was great the one time I had to use it.

While camping in Yosemite in March 2014, before the summer season when all the services are open, I had a rear tire separate on my truck. Went to install the spare and it was only inflated to front tire pressure, so I needed to add air in order to tow out but the yosemite garage was closed. No other air capable of inflating to 80psi in the park. Called my insurance company, they dispatched a tow truck service that actually came from 40 miles away, outside the park, all the way to my campsite to fill the tire. The service man was awesome, even reinstalled the spare so that we knew the lugs were torque properly with his torque wrench.

Been a AAA member for 32+ years here in California, added the RV/Motorcycle coverage in 2012. Had 2 breakdowns on previous tow vehicle & trailer. They sent 2 tow trucks - I used up 1 of the 4 allotted services for the year from the vehicle part of coverage and 1 of the 4 allotted services per year from the RV side of the coverage on each breakdown. (depending on what coverage you pay for). I couldn't imagine how much that would have cost me to get those units home each time w/out it. They were very prompt & professional. I would not be without it personally.
