Added L.E.D light strip on camper

just thought id share my led strip install as i cant bring myself to put holes in my camper , lol
i power it on and off from the outside light switch and so far so good except the wire channel
above the door was not supposed to have that much drop to it by the light but when i pulled off the rest of the self stick tape backing , i didnt have a hold on it and there it stuck but lights work great .

I just returned from camping last week and had mutliple individuals approach me about our LED lighting. Also, I didn't see any issues with bugs being attracted to them. At night, playing cards or just sitting around was very nice with the additional lighting. I am concerned about the moisture that sits inside the rolled up awning but so far haven't had any failures.

That is 49% of the reason why I put mine on the TT under the awning.
Plus I wanted to use mine even if the awning was not extended.

I put a strip on the underside of the gutter (white) and a strip on the awning tube (blue). I used a radio jack to connect the power feed to the awning tube. That way when it's time to roll up the awning, I can easily disconnect the feed and not rip out the wiring. Both light strips are on a single dimmer switch that is remote control. I had to drill one 1/8" hole in the side of the trailer for the 12V power. If you didn't know I drilled the hole, you wouldn't know it to see it.

I did the same, I went through my power awning wire hole and put the controller in the hatch. I also put a strip around the hatch to find the beer fridge at night.

Not to hijack your thread, but mine came with the factory cool white LED strip. My problem is they are way to bright for my liking. Has anyone removed them and installed the RGB ones in there place? I have a brand new set with the remote.

I had the same problem; those things are WAY bright. I bought just the dimmer from Amazon, but I haven't installed it yet. I was a little concerned because the same circuit runs the step light that uses a regular bulb and I'm not sure the dimmer is rated for that much current. So I'm going to replace the step light with an LED, and install the dimmer right in my control panel.

It should be relatively straightforward when I get to it (except the dimmer box is HUGE), and I'll put up pics when it's done.

Any reason for the GREEN lights... I don't know if i could get used to that color or not...

We ran the incandescent 120VAC ROPE LIGHTs from LOWES under my OFF-ROAD POPUP awning and they don't draw bugs either... When off the road camping I power these up with my duty Inverter.

We use tie wraps to hold ours up and then just snip them out when we pack up. I bought a big box of tie wraps about three years ago for this and still have a bunch of them to use.

If you come on a camp site with cut off tie wraps on the ground probably me haha... I try to pick them all all up but may miss a few...

I ordered the Rgb 5050 leds( red green blue) off of eBay. They change colors to what ever color you want, flash and even fade.

Where did you get the adapter to go from light bulb to lead wires to attach the light power to?

this is the light i used for the light base , i just cut off the led and used the wiring . i did leave just a little wire coming out of the light so i can used it down the road.

Roy , that was just the color that was on when i took the picture , they change to any color you want with the 44 button remote , i love these lights and the red when dimmed all the way down just barely light up the area under the awning so you dont disturb any one else . so far got in 15-20 nights camping with them .

LED dimmers work in miliamps I believe and require a special dimmer switch, it won't hurt your stair light but when you go to dim the LEDs it will just completely shut off your step light or just not allow enough power to even reach it... But it won't physically harm it just underpower it. So at most a blown bulb...
