Advice needed

Good afternoon,

The front (door side) trim on my new 264bh appeared to be sloppily sealed upon purchasing. Having read about issues in workmanship on TTs I didn't worry much. After a couple of months (bought in July) I am noticing that it has either separated or it never quite reached the trim and they just tried to cover it up (successfully obviously as I bought it). I have heard about the notorious issue with warranty repairs. Should I try and seal it myself, and with what, or is this something that warrants a warranty claim. FYI dealer it was bought at is about 6 hours away. Thank you.

Edit: The gap seems to be most evident at approximately five feet off the ground, the roundest part and seems OK at the ends

If you are handy at fixing things ,I would fix it myself. Look on U-Tube for help and suggestions. If that fails go to any local RV dealer and ask them how they would do it..Paying a local will probably be cheaper than gas and your time to go back to selling dealer..

In the first pic what does the largest gap measure from panel to trim?
What does the opposite side look like?

Looks like a pretty big gap just to do a patch job.

I would send the dealer some pictures before doing anything.

IMO the aluminum side panel edge should be 'behind' the black metal trim, not separated from it. The front cap aluminum panel edge should also be behind the same metal trim piece.

Either the metal trim is backing away from the side panel/front cap joint, or something is going on with the side panel, and/or the front cap panel.

Also, Jayco normally uses Butyl putty tape behind the metal trim along the aluminum panel joints, not caulking.

That does not seem like something that should be patched up and then move on. There is more there than meets the eye. It should be inspected by the dealer/authorized repair.

I agree also. It's like the screws have pulled out, or didn't bite into anything when they installed that trim. It needs to be documented by a dealer for sure.

I appreciate the advice. Deep down inside I knew I should be going to the dealer with this...but was hoping I was just imagining things. Thanks, as always this forum comes through.

I would take some pictures with a ruler next to the gap so whoever is looking at the pictures has some idea of dimensions. As others have mentioned the black trim should be over the aluminum and the sealant filling the small gaps that exist between the aluminum and the black edging due because the aluminum is corrugated.
