Asst. scoutmaster while the 2 boys were scouting.Did a lot of winter camping, great fun. I was lucky enough to go to Philmont in '59 ( parents paid $189.00). We did it by bus, from Worcester Ma. thru Niagra Falls to Detroit, went to the Ford Rotunda, a mini test track,& an assembly plant. We then went to Chicago to see the German sub , U444 (I think), and the awsome museum right next to it. Stopped at Boy's town, Ne, Cheyenne Wo ( went to a dance put on by the girl scouts), Air Force Academy & a Colo. Indian publeo then on to Philmont for two weeks of backing in the N.M. mountains( thanks to the mules for carrying the heavy stuff). We stayed at army & air force bases ,some along old rt 66, on the way home .I can still remember that trip after 52yrs.
