... got back yesterday from a stay at Myakka River State Park. A favorite CG for us that's a little south-east of Sarasota. There's been a lot of rain lately and the river was out of it's banks. That's great for viewing wading birds and those creatures who stay near the water's edge, but it also brings the gators in.

The concrete slab is an easy-access ADA picnic site. No thanks - I'll have my picnic somewhere else.

My dad and step mom used to winter at an RV park on the Myakka. I've seen exactly what your seeing and obviously kept my distance. Scary stuff but great fishing.

We camped at Sun n Fun and paddled Mayakka in see thru kayaks. Our first encounters with gators. The river was in its banks! It was very scary that 1st time watching them slip off the bank and disappear under us but after 20 years we have never had any bad encounters with them in many Fl. Rivers.
