Has anyone purchased a e bike from Amazon ? If so how is the quality? Specifically speaking of something around 5-800 dollars.

My neighbor did and ok for short local riding. Components like gears and brakes, etc. are cheaply made and local bike dealers will change a tire but not electrical components.
Also, some reports of fires during charging in the news is a bit scary. Most of those reported seem to be low end products.

If you do buy one make sure of returns policies and a good warranty.

Also keep in mind that the lower wattage motor means less miles before battery goes dead. I have a 750 watt motor and can travel 30 miles easily not using the pedal assist function. If you are in great shape and plan on peddling a lot then the lower wattage might work fine.

I made one big mistake purchasing my ebike. I've had both hips replaced and got a standard bike that was a pain to step over to get on. I actually did some damage to my hip replacement. So I had to swap it for a step thru model which worked out just fine. Also as another member mentioned make sure the warranty is good.

Take a look at the Lectric brand. Decent foldable bikes for the $, around $799 for a basic model. Great customer service, based in the USA.

I have purchased two Vitilan V3s from Amazon. Great bikes but later decided that I wanted the step through for both of us and sold the V3s for about what I paid for them. I then purchased two U7s directly from the company and saved tax, still free shipping. They came in about 3 days and are a great bike. Lots of power and extras for the price. Great customer support and just a solid bike.

The are Chinese but the shipping location is in CA and while customer support is in China I get answers within 24 hours. Parts, if upgraded or needed are pretty quick even thought they too come from China.

They have a FaceBook page and you can go there to see the feedback and comments. I have seen maybe one or two bad comments and hundreds of good. I just did an 11 mile ride yesterday with top speed of 28 mph.
