Android tablet removal for storage

Our Pinnacle will be in storage but not plugged in this winter in northern Michigan. Should our JayCommand table be removed to prevent freezing?

Tablets and smartphones aren't going to be hurt directly by temperatures below freezing, but they have a lithium battery and all of the precautions would apply.


If its possible to remove it, I would.

We have left ours in thd 5er for the past two winters with no issue (knock on wood).

After my third winter storage cycle (no power to RV) my tablet had an issue when I took it out of storage. With power on the screen had a frozen display (BMPRO Logo). Apparently, the battery level dropped so low that it wouldn't function until after I removed it and charged it in my house. After 30 minutes it got above 1% charge and started to reboot itself. Prior to doing this I had power on the RV for three days but it wasn't enough to charge the tablet. Do yourself a favor and remove it from the RV.

Mine did the same thing this year. Once charged in the house and placed back in the rv it is charging and works fine now that its warmer outside. I think it got to cold for to long to charge and died. Next year I will store it in the house.

Hello! Can you let me know how you remove this from the wall. Do you just pull it away from the wall or is there a release somewhere on the wall holder? Picture would be great if there is a release!

Just an update. Apparently my Bmpro tablet battery is dead. It gave me grief all last week. It is working sporadically but appears it will no longer work if un plugged. I did a hard factory reset on the tablet and re installed the Jaycommand software. Again it's working right now but I am looking for a new tablet. This is just a cheap tablet but need the correct size and charging port location to fit in the wall frame. I think last winter killed the battery.

I think the best thing to do if left unpowered for extended periods is to bring the tablet home and keep it on a charger...over the winter for example.

Right now it is bumping or exceeding 100 degrees every day and in the winter it gets below freezing off and on with an occasional period of single digits. Typical Oklahoma weather. Would it be better to bring it inside?

Mine stays plugged in and the RV is in a garage...same thing with the high temps....I'm leaving it in.

2020 Pinnacle. Already replaced the junk BMPRO tablet with a newer tablet (Vankyo Matrixpad S7). It fits better and has a far better screen. Also use Lucid Daydream screensaver to prevent resetting the tablet and set to never sleep, works great. However, the small wiring harness had to be extended 1 1/2 for the micro usb plugins to connect. I do remove the unit (complete) and store at the house in winter.

How did you go about extending the micro USB cable and still fit in the frame?

Cut the harness between attached circuit board and tablet (remove the circuit board (2 screws) and soldered in the extra wires (4) and used small heat shrink on each wire. The wires will bend but you need to get it it kind of close. Obviously 3 inches of extension wire would be hard to cram up on the inside of the frame. One inch would have been perfect, but 1 1/2 allowed more movement and play for the connecter. The key was at the corner and making sure it did pack into the small channel. Works perfect. I do like to disconnect the tablet connection to plug in a wall charger for a complete charge occasionally, but my solar panel keeps it fairly tiptop between trips. I have noticed that the plastic clips on the frame can wear easily from removing and installing so that is an issue I'll deal with later.
The micro usb connector is just connected with 4 wires to each end. Its not a micro usb cable as such like one you would see on ebay or one that comes with a phone. They took two micro usb electronic surface board connectors and soldered 4 wires between them.
