Auto fan kit for Coleman Mach Ac

Has anyone added the auto fan kit for the Coleman Mach manual Ac unit so that the fan cycles on and off with the ac compressor. It would be nice not to have the fan running all the time.

Personally I like the white noise of the fan running, it drowns out the sound of a noisy neighbor. Anyway, I would probably wake up every time the AC kicked on.

That is a std option on the Mach lll's.

We bought the control box that let us hook it up to a standard RV wall thermostat -- best mod we've done to date. The fan cycles off when the trailer reaches the desired temperature and then we have QUIET -- really nice. Neither of us wake up if the unit comes on during the night.

I guess that would be an option as well. Was it much of a job to run the wires for the thermostat?

LOL, not once I figured out how to do it! But I took a whole lot of stuff apart before I figured that out. If I had known how to do it when I started, it would have taken maybe 15 minutes, instead it took about 2 hours.

However, running the wire will be very specific to your model unit -- I have an X213 and taking down the inner shower skylight gave me access to the 'attic' space so I could fish a wire across from the ceiling AC unit and then down that wall. Worked out looking great too.

Edit: If you get a Coleman thermostat with the heat option you can use it to run the furnace -- we did that so now both heat and cooling are controlled by the one thermostat.

If all you want is for the fan to go off when the compressor does then it may be too much trouble to install a thermostat instead of the auto fan kit - I was determined to go the thermostat route because our furnace thermostat was really hard to turn on (my wife couldn't turn it on) so I wanted to replace that too.
