Awning center support white hawk 24rbs

Welcome to the forum Ozkamper. Really no need for the center support, unless you're talking about the cradle for when the awning is in the stowed position, and that's only needed on the longer awnings. Your white hawk does have the A&E power awing, right? Care to elaborate a little more on what you're trying to achieve?

Electric awning 18ft needs center support

Welcome and congrats on your new TT. I agree with BigJohn, not sure why you need the center support. Our awning is 20' and there is no need for a support. Why do you think you need one?

We would prefer to have a cradle holding our 18ft awning when it's closed. Over the years we have seen more than one sagging long awning. Sure they have made improvements but things do happen and at times we tow for long distances.

I have never seen an awning center support like you mention. My 2012 has a 18' electric awning, I've not detected any sagging. Would be interested to see what you come up with. Seems like this could be the "stitch in time" my grandparents recommended.

In that case, I've done the same before on the longer awnings. I've always used the dometic one.

Comes with a nice backing plate that's not shown in the picture. Even though I've centered the cradle over a stud, I like the backing plate with some large rivets as additional support. Can't go wrong with this one.

I know he is talking about that but why would it bend when rolled up and stowed? Is it really that flimsly that driving down road will bend it. I have seen many bent ones and the owners said wind or rain was the cause. If that is the case my new FBTS has a 20 ft awning

Yes, the aluminum tube is that flimsy. I've had the long dometics over 20' and just the bouncing going down the road caused them to start sagging in the middle over time. Didn't affect the function, just not as appealing to the eye. Kind of a judgement call or matter of preference. I don't have the cradle support on ours now, but it's only 18'.

Ok thanks. I will keep an eye on mine. Really do not want to drill into a new Rv under warranty to mount a cradle. Hate to have a wall delaminate and say it from me. If it looks like their might be a problem I will pay dealer to keep warranty good
