B&W Slider Hitch

I have been very pleased with my slider hitch so far. I find that I take the few seconds to engage it every time I back the rig up, even if I don’t really need to.

The extra foot of space behind the tailgate when hitching and unhitching is well worth the added expense and weight.

How do those without the slider option work around the few inches of clearance between truck and trailer when the gate is down. That would be a real inconvenience to me.

Most people believe they will be careful and never crash the cab and take out the rear window. Then once they do it, they buy a Pull Rite automatic slider or equivalent. Not only backing up but more chances of hitting When making a sharp turn.

Depends on the setup I suppose. With my 2019 Chevy/Eagle, and B&W hitch in the rear most setting(non slider), I can lower my tailgate and scoot back there just fine. I can’t quite open my front storage with the gate down, but I can move through the space. I’m a small guy though.

I’m in the “not yet crowd”. Had a slider as my first hitch. Engaged it two or three times. Mostly it just created more noise and clunk as it was another set of moving parts. Backing, I’m obviously careful. Where I really need to be careful is making a u-turn. Doing this, more focus is ahead of you than behind and I have to remind myself to watch the cab that I don’t tighten the turn too much. All while considering the rear overhang not taking out a mailbox or parked car. I run into this in the culdesac at the end of my street.

X2 - True story. Dented up my cab but fortunately the window survived.

My hitch is a B&W slider and so far in 6 years have never had to slide it.

Your picture is why I like my slider. I can’t imagine having that little space available every time I lower the tailgate.

I like to be able to lower the gate, open the storage compartment and have plenty of room to move through the area.

Makes me glad that I have a bumper (receiver) mounted trailer. I have full use of the truck bed when travelling.
