Baggage Door Catch Location

Before I drill holes into my beloved MH, just want thoughts on installing baggage door catches for some of my top hinge cargo doors. Should I mount them centered above the door or on the side near top when opened? I have seen them mounted both ways but not sure if there is an advantage of one way over another. They are the squared spring hinged type.

For what it's worth I installed mine on the side near the top. I installed them right above the major seam that runs the length of the MH. That way I'm ensured that they're all even. One self tapping screw with a bit of caulk behind each one to ensure no leaks and you're done. I installed them all on the front side except one that I had to install in the rear (the one right below the water heater).

So as to not hijack the thread could you PM me on your towed setup. I'm getting close to setting up my CRV for towing. Have most everything picked out, just like to see other opinions.

Thanks for the idea. I just installed 6 of these catches on my 2015 Greyhawk 31DS. They work great. The installation was straight forward and simple enough. It cost me $30.00 Canadian for the parts and an hour of my time. Thanks again for the idea. Cheers.

Glad to help out. Just as an FYI, if you forget to unhook the latches on the slide and deploy the slide, no harm done. It makes a really scary racket when the door slams but no harm done to either the slide or the catch. The catch just unhooks.
