Battery access on 2017 Jayco Pinnacle 36KPTS

we have a 2017 36KPTS with a residential fridge. The unit came with six 12volt batteries. I cannot even see the back batteries, much less get to the top caps to check water. Other than the flow-rite watering system, does anyone have a solution to check water level. Also, does anyone have knowledge as to whether six batteries are necessary. I do not boon-dock.
I considered AGM (cost) but also do not know if the on-board battery charger will be compatible with AGM.

Yes. Six 12volts. 3 on top shelf and 3 on bottom shelf. Am I the only one out there with 6 batteries. Dealer installed batteries when we bought the unit new. Said 6 because of residential fridge.

That is why I asked what others with 2017 KPTS residential fridge have for battery bank.

In the future I want to go to 6 volt batteries and plan to install them in front
compartment, to the left of where battery compartment is.

Wow 6! I’ve got 3 and haven’t had a problem. To check the rear batteries you could put in a slider tray, but you’d probably have to make some adjustments with your cables.

Two 12 volts in ours with residential and no issues but the unit is new. I know we can’t dry camp without running a generator but no plans to right now. Running the inverter for 8 hours while traveling wasn’t an issue either.

I appreciate everyone taking time to respond. I think I am going to try and get some info from Jayco (haha) and see if they can educate me on whether I really need 6 12volt batteries. If not, then I have a new problem.......how to get rid of any extras I may have...lol

I bet the guy that had to install yours on the top shelf was NOT very happy trying to connect everything.........

Dallas to Disney. Stayed the night in Hattiesburg, MS (about 9 hours); then to Tallahassee, FL (about another 8-9 hours); then in to Disney (4 hours). Full hook up at stay overs. On the way back I drove Disney to Hattiesburg (about 12 hours); then home (another 9 hours). Had no issues with power supply to fridge.

That's around the most hours i have done also. But with only 2 12 volts.

Since we are talking about distances and what we have experienced.... On 2 12volt batteries I made it from the Grand Canyon to Atlanta, GA with no issues. 3 days of travel and 2 nights in Walmart parking lots where I ran a 2000W generator for approx 6 hours each night.

We have 4 batteries (wife thought we had 6). When we were having issues on the way back from Virginia & needed to have the trailer brakes looked at, the batteries did not keep the residential refrigerator running overnight. We were not allowed to plug in the trailer (it was not a RV shop) & we do not have a generator at this time. Even then not sure we would have been allowed to run a generator.

Update

I did hear back from Jayco. They said I have storage for 6 batteries if I want but they recommend no less than 2. The number of batteries depends on how long you want to be unplugged. So I am 4 batteries less and 200lbs lighter.

I have a 2016 Pinnacle 38FLSA and it was delivered with 6 12V batteries. I want to install slide out trays but this will require raising the shelf for the top 3 batteries so the bottom slide out tray will clear the lip on the storage compartment. I’m not sure if the shelf is bolted in or welded. Also I had not thought about having to swap for longer cables on the batteries in the back so there is enough slack for the trays to slide out. Has anyone done this mod for their batteries?

We have a 2016 FBTS and we've had a fit with the refrigerator warming after a 2 1/2 hour trip .We have (2) 12 volt batteries and to answer the one question our shelf is spot welded in.Jayco replaced the 1000 watt inverter with a 1800 and are still running out of power .
