Battery compartment

Does any one know if the battery compartment on my Eagle ht needs to be vented ? I ask because there is a section of the floor in the compartment that was left wide open from the factory. I’m getting mice in that area and was wondering if I could take a piece of stainless steel plate and cover the hole ?

Yes your battery compartment should be vented. Try some heavy duty screening.

You can also take a piece of plywood and cut to fit, put holes in and cover holes with screen.

I also added vents to the door so air can circulate.

Expanded metal would be my suggestion.

In my rig, that is the battery vent. Expanded metal or screening may keep them critters out if a "NO MICE WELCOME" sign is ignored. I have never had any mice in mine.

You may also want to soak some cotton balls in peppermint oil and stuff them in a cracks where the mice may get in. Mice and several other critters don't like the smell of peppermint. You may have to reapply the peppermint oil from time to time to maintain effectiveness.

Put wire screen under our two batteries! Bought ac vent HD cut pattern on card board. Cut hole in battery storage door, 4 screws a little calk, more air!

I ended up buying wire cloth with 1/4” holes in it and covering the holes in the battery box and a couple other openings in the storage compartment. We have had the camper for a year and never had mice before. The only thing I have added is JT strong arm stabilizers and soon after I started seeing mice activity. Wonder if the stabilizer bars give them a nice ramp to climb into the RV. Thanks for the replies

What do they call that part just vent or something else?
