2019 Entegra Vision 31V (Jayco Alante 31V). I think the battery disconnect solenoid is going bad, but wanted to describe the symptoms here and get confirmation on my thought process. Occasionally without warning, but normally when travelling, the electrical (12V) will drop out and the light next to the salesman switch is out. When I try to reset it with a quick press, sometimes it will take 3-5 presses to get it to latch. If I engage my inverter while travelling, the lights will blink and eventually the solenoid will disconnect and the light will go off, causing me to reset it like described above. Recently, the lights have been blinking randomly, but the solenoid is staying engaged. At the very end of a slide out or in event, the lights blink as well. Everything I see points to a bad connection internally to the solenoid. I have checked all the battery connections and ground connections, all are in good shape.

What say you folks? Solenoid or should I be looking elsewhere?

I believe your assessment is spot on, Fortm.

My old rig behaved the same way (at about 10yrs) and replacing that latching solenoid cured the problem. I too suspected the internal contacts were a bit corroded.

Turn off battery pwr 1st of course and take several pics from different angles.

I always ensure the loads are off as much as possible before cycling that solenoid to minimize contact arcing; doubt the PO of that WBGO did.

Best on the repair.... good times and safe travels to ya.

Thanks for the confirmation Ed. It looks like timing is everything, as it failed last night at 1:00am. Just dropped out for no reason. Took me 30 min to get it to latch again. Had to tap on it lightly with a small flashlight to get it to connect and about 10 pushes of the switch. Will get one on order, and if necessary remove the connections and wire them together for the short-term.

Thanks again, looks like the issue has been narrowed down to the relay.

Just a note for those who may not be aware: Some RVers make up (and carry) a heavy jumper (sometimes with alligator clips) to jump the large terminals in the event of failure of this component on the road…………then replace the faulty latching relay/solenoid when they get home. 'Tis a quality part, but I have read of quite a few failures over the years.

RVers B Innovative, for sure.
