Good Evening,

I have a Jayco Jay Feather 2024 and when I put the disconnect switch to off I still have DC Power in the unit. What could be the cause.

Thanks in advance,
Richard.

Wires to disconnect switch. Does everyting seems to be connected properly?

"Disconnect Switch" most often is referred to as the switch that disconnects the battery from the rest of the RV, but in some cases could be used to disconnect from solar or something similar.

The reason I mention this, is that from the back side, this doesn't appear to be a battery disconnect switch and instead it appears to be 3 circuit breakers on the left and perhaps a meter on the right (seeing the other side would help). If the component on the right is a switch, then it would control a larger disconnect solenoid which would often be located near the battery which is what I would suggest to check next, perhaps grab a few images. ~CA

My '24 Whitehawk is wired the same way. It's not a true "battery disconnect". I believe it only switches the power converter output circuit. I'm new to trailers (this is my first post!) so I'm not sure what the intent was from Jayco to wire it this way. The only assumption I can make is if you want to run your 12V circuit completely separate of shore/generator power. Clarification from someone who knows would be wonderful for me as well!

Hi,

This is other side of the disconnect switch.

Thank in advance,
Richard.

I do not get that wiring labeling at all. I wouldn't expect to see any negative cables involved in the disconnect circuit. But that's par for the course for RV's, I guess. You will just have to start at the battery, and trace those wires to try to make sense of it.
Also, I see that solar is standard on your model. Could the solar 12v be sneaking in there somehow? (We don't have solar, so don't know how it's wired or converted.)

From an observational standpoint, I agree that you shouldn't see both a negative and positive battery wire on a switch except for a lighted switch where often a small ground\neg wire will go to the switch for the light (which is what lead me to think maybe it wasn't a switch). RV's in general (including Jayco's for sure) often use Black and Red for the Positive connections and to confuse that sometimes they use Black also for Negative connections but usually when they do, they mark the back wire\cable with a label and\or a white tape marking. Point being, sometimes you will see black and red wires\cables and they are all positive (unlike in your image where some are labeled "-" (neg).

In any case and because you are not reporting any power outage issues, apparently there is not a direct short. Questions are, did you purchase the RV new (perhaps a previous owner changed something) and have you ever changed any of the wiring? Do you have a voltage meter and know how to use it? Is it possible to follow any of these wires visually (or do they go into a wall)? Did the cutoff switch ever work as you expected? Do you have multiple positive connections to the battery (if so, perhaps some of them do not go through the wires in the images). ~CA
