Battery operated devices not working.

Hello all.
I have a Doosy problem. 2019 Jayco Jayflight. After I replaced the converter I do not have power to the slide outs. The awning. The stabilizers and water pump. All Battery operated. All Ac items are working. Converter is charging my battery. I have B plus power coming out of the fuse box. lol. If any one can give me a clue on what the heck this is. Please tell me. Lol. My battery is new. Checked for loose grounds. Nothing. One thing that is bothering me is that the converter fan is not turning on. Every one is telling me that it only comes on with a load. Before the old converter went out you could hear the fan coming on. I put a load on it. Turned everything on. Both ac,s. The fan is not coming on. Inquired with the company that made the converter. They are telling me my issue is a ground. All three slide outs the awning and the water pump not working. Can not find a bad ground. Am I looking in the wrong places?

The first thing I'd check is if the converter charger is charging the battery.

At rest, it should read about 12.6 volts with a meter, and up to about 14.6 volts during a charge cycle. There will be a float cycle in there of 13 something volts also. If you see all those to be correct, the wiring TO the battery is ok, and the converter is charging correctly.

Then it'll be a matter of tracing connections back FROM the battery to see where you lose 12v current, starting inside the junction box on the frame where your battery cables and 7-pin wiring go into.

Grounds can be anywhere around and under the trailer, many screwed to the frame.

Start with the easy stuff. Check all your fuses and if you have one the “resettable “ switch usually located very near the battery.

I had intermittent problems that I traced to a bad ground. Most of your 12 volt items get positive from the battery via a wire and ground to frame. If the frame ground or the ground bar or the converter to ground bar connection is loose, corroded or missing 12 volts can't flow. There may be a ground at the battery area.

Mine was due to all the ground screws being loose on the ground bar behind the converter.

OP states problem started with swapping out converter. So starting point for me would be with connections associated with the converter swap and any and all common DC fuses.

This trailer is only 5 years old. It does seem like a ground. The converter is working. No blown fuses and they all have B 12vdc reading. I don’t see a resettable fuse near the battery. There is a fuse in line and it’s 30 amp. It’s good. All this started after I changed the converter. Found a few ground to frame connections. All good. It’s the damndest thing. lol.

I will go thru everyone’s suggestions. Thank you all for replying.

Mine is a 2017 and there is a aluminum bar behind the converter with all the grounds going to it and then a single wire running through the floor to a screw going into the frame. Many have reported the ground failure was that final screw under the trailer going into the frame was broken, corroded, rusted or loose. I would remove the screw and replace it with a shiny new one and check the connections for corrosion.

Could also be that you purchased a bad converter.

I would pull it out, have it tested.

Of course, as RogerR stated, check the main ground first.

Your converter is there mainly to charge your battery. It is not the cause of your problems as the battery should easily power all 12 volt items. As mentioned, just measure across your battery with the unit plugged in and verify that it reads mid 13s to mid 14s. If yes, it is doing its job.

As far as the fan is concerned, it will probably only come on if the converter is getting warm from supplying a lot of current. This could be because of heavy battery charging or a heavy 12 volt draw. Anything related to 120 volts, such as air conditioning, TVs, microwave, etc. will have NO effect on your converter. The converter is not dealing with any 120 volt loads only 12 volt. It just happens to be plugged into 120 volts and converts that to 12 volts.

Odds are you did not blow multiple fuses as I assume there are different fuses for the items you mention are not working. Since so many items are out all at once and you mentioned you have B+ (an old electronic term ) chances are there may be a common ground point that is bad.

On my Greyhawk I found some ground connections to the frame where multiple wires connect to it and it then in turn connects to the frame. If the connection to the frame fails then all items that connect there will go dead.

I would crawl under the rig and look for grounding locations. Odds are they will be close to the items that they are grounding.

NO DC Power

Start with the easy stuff. Check all your fuses and if you have one the “re-settable “ switch usually located very near the battery.

I also have no DC. On the latching relay left side there is no 12 volts on either side of the fuse. The right side fuse has power and one of the 2 wires goes to the radio. Prior to the "RED" light going out on the coach inside switch the inverter had an Overload code on it. That's why I reset the DC power switch. Never came back. Had same issue before and it all came back on. Not this time....(??)
