I have two 6 v batteries. They are doing much better than my one 12v in my 26SS. I have a 1 amp tickle charger hooked up which has a continuous charge going into my batteries. My acid level is not over full. all the sells on both batteries have the same level. I have noticed one of the batteries has some acid leaking out around one of the positive terminals. Not a lot, but is has caused some corrosion in the connection. Is there anything that can be done to seal this? stan

If they are fairly new they should be covered by a warranty. I'd see what I could do about getting the leaking battery replaced. I don't think it can be re-sealed. Well, maybe some J-B Weld would do it, but if the manufacturer would replace it, which I think they should, I'd go that route.

Certain battery will vent around the post. You could use the felt washers on the posts or you might be boiling the batteries with a continuous 1 amp charge. I would look in the cells when charging and look for bubbles. When I was a auto tech Excide batteries were are dirty. I wonder if that would be covered under warranty?

What is the voltage on the battery while the charger is operating? 12.6, 13.2, 14.4? Is there any drain on the battery?

Is this a smart charger or one that puts out 1 amp 24/7? If it is putting out the 1 amp constantly you need to either get a smart charger that adjusts the output to meet the batteries needs or put your current charger on a timer and only run it a few hours a day. You would have to monitor it for a few days trying different charge times, until you hit the magic number.

1 amp 24/7 is too much for your batteries.

Just my thoughts,

Don

I agree. 1 amp 24/7 will cook those batteries. Very slowly, but it will happen. Get a floating / auto charger.
