I have a Jayco Greyhawk that is not being used this season. I want to install a solar battery tender. If I connect it to the engine battery, will it also trickle to the RV batteries? Or do I need a separate one for the house batteries, as well?

The chassis battery will not charge the coach battery unless the boost solenoid is engaged (typically when the engine is running or the boost switch is held closed). You could look for a solar battery tender with two outputs or install a tender that will charge DC to DC from one battery to the other.

You don't need to hook it to the battery. You can plug it into your dash to charge the chassis battery. A battery tender should come with an adapter to plug into the power outlet on the dash. The outlet and battery don't care which way the juice flows.

You'll need another tender for your house battery but it won't be necessary if you keep the MH plugged in to a power source. With an adapter you can hook the RV up to the same power source as your battery tender. The converter will keep your house battery charged.

I recall some postings that their RV would charge both. But like dvspl, mine doesn't. I have a small 20 watt solar panel for the engine battery. And I already had solar up top for the house batteries.

You might be able to do something similar - two small solar trickle chargers.
