Looking for a consensus or at least personal preferences of the best tank (black/grey) tank treatments out there. So far I'm leaning towards Walex Bio-Paks for black tank and Elemonate for grey tank. Unless says these are junk products of course. I appreciate all input!

I used the same for black tank and like it. Don’t regularly use anything in grey

I have been using Calgon liquid water softener and maybe a little laundry soap in the black tank. When I drain the tank I use the flush and really rinse it well. I mean really well and several times.

The Calgon prevents anything from sticking to the tank. I have not had any issues or odors. And as the OP said, lots of water.

Haven't seen Happy Camper treatment in local stores. Where does one buy this treatment?

Water and a squirt of Dawn dish soap in a freshly dumped black. Don't dump it again until I have spent 6 nights. Grey - nothing but water.

I use laundry detergent from the dollar store. 1/4 of bottle into the black tank. I put it in before leaving on the trip with the tank empty. It's only twenty five cents per use and works great.

X2. 3 RV’s and this is an excellent method.

Happy Camper (one scoop) and a capful of Calgon liquid water softener (Wal Mart), mixing about a gallon in a five gallon bucket, dump it down the toilet to the empty recently-dumped black tank, add another gallon or two of water and good to go. Nothing for the gray tank.

For regular treatment while camping, we use Walex Elimonator in the gray and the Walex pine in the black. Both get a Walex Commando treatment (the black twice a year, gray once a year). We have been very pleased with all three products.

Sounds good. I'll give the Walex stuff a shot for sure. I've also put a tub of the happy camper in my rig due to the number of positive inputs for that. This newby appreciates everyone's input!!

The seasonal Commando treatments have really done a super job of gettin' 'er clean! DW loves the Elimonator, nice lemon scent for the gray. She dissolves one every two-three gray fills.

I guess I will be the first to say that in all the years we have been RVing and on our third camper we have used nothing after the freebie stuff was used up that came with the camper. We have never experienced any odors. Our new Jayco HT 5th wheel has a black water spray system but the other two never had one. Through 35 years in the wastewater business I found many salesmen who were happy to sell me the latest and greatest odor control chemical. Bottom line is try without and see if you really have issues. Remember, it is only a vented holding tank and is normally emptied pretty frequently.

Just my experience...your mileage may vary. :)
