Bike rack/cargo tray?

I've put all kinds of things on mine and haven't had a problem with it yet. I've drug it across the ground pulling out of parking lots and such and it's made it through just fine. I've loaded it up with firewood and other heavy items without any problems thus far. I usually keep all of my jack pads and leveling 2x10s in there just to keep them out of the back of the truck.

does Jayco have a specific part number for this? or are there different makes for different models? we just got our trailer and need to figure out our bike transport. we only had the camper since october and camped twice. we put the bikes in the camper because we had no choice but that will not work especially if it is muddy....

I believe it's only available on Jay Flight and Eagle lines of TT. Can't confirm, but I was told by a sales rep that the "lightweight" and "ultralight" lines didn't have a frame to support the carrier. Even in some of the conventional built lines, not every floor plan can have the option ... Likely has to do with tank location.

Another idea may be a front mounted hitch on your TV or a bike rack that sits above your propane tanks on the TT.

We have the factory rack on ours and have had no problems with clearance. If memory serves me, I think the total extended length from the rear bumper is about 24 inches or so.

Bike Rack/Cargo Tray

Thanks to everyone who posted to this thread. A lot of good comments and suggestions. Most of the comments "pro" were from people using it as a cargo tray - which is what I plan to use it for. Most of the "con" comments (including those on a different thread) were from people using it as a bike rack.
All of them helped make my decision easier, and I went ahead and ordered it from my dealer on Thursday. To avoid the $100 shipping charge, they're going to try having it shipped inside the next Jayco they have delivered to them. Should be a couple of weeks. Then I'll have them install it.

Since I'm going to use it to store my generator, tool box, waste tote, etc., it will free up my truck bed for my small "Bass Chaser" boat. Once it's installed, I think I'll be ready for full-timing.

Got a call from the dealer yesterday afternoon. My rack is in! Taking it in on Monday for the install. Service guy says it should only take a couple of hours . . . ya, right!

^^^install should only take 20 min. Its literally attached to the frame with 6 bolts into pre-tapped holes. They will have to un bolt the rear stabilizers bolt on the rack and then re-attach the stabilizers.

how much did they charge you for the rack? Our 33RLDS has the mounts for it and are thinking of getting one.

Whistler was correct - unit runs $666.68 + $125 for installation. My dealer was able to have it shipped inside another Jayco trailer they were getting delivered, so I was able to avoid the $180.00 freight charge (it's a heavy sucker). It only took a week to come in. Yes, I probably could have built one for less, too. But do I really want to? NO! Then who'd be responsible if it fell off?

There's another thread on here that talks about using it as a bike rack, and most posts don't think real highly of it for that purpose. It only has a tilt-up post for securing the bikes. I, however, think it would be an excellent base for the PVC bike racks that a couple other forum members have come up with.
Since I'm going to be using it for generator, blue tank, tool, & ladder storage, I think it's going to be great. Will use ratchet straps to hold everything in place, and a heavy wire bike lock for security. Should take a little tongue weight off my hitch, and free up loads of room in my truck bed.

I'll post some pics of it next week when I finish up my other mods & post pics of them. Let us all know what you decide.

It's Installed

Just got back from the dealer, and my new Bike Rack/Cargo Tray is now installed on my Eagle! As expected, it took about three hours. It's quite heavy duty (except for the plastic floor), and looks like it should carry the items I mentioned in an earlier post. I did manage to find a weight load capacity for it - 250 lbs.

Thanks, again, to everyone who contributed their input. Really helped me make a decision I'm sure I'll be happy with.

Boy! That makes me feel good, Norty1! (Just kidding). Since I saved over $12K by purchasing a new model that had been on the dealer's lot for almost a year, I don't feel too badly about spending $800 on the tray. Now my trailer is perfect . . . for me.

I have seen on that has a weldment on the rear bumper that pivots up and locks up, or down. Think it was on a Dutchman product?

Mine has that, as well, but it's actually attached to the slide-out rack. I think you're suppose to use it to support your bikes.

I have the same rack on my 2009 295 eagle superlite. Tring to fit two lectric e-bikes on it.
Anyone have this rack fitted for two fat tire e-bike?
