I recently purchased a new 2025 FORD ESCAPE Hybrid Plug-In to tow behind our 2023 Entegra Esteem 29V Class-C motorhome and I'm interested in finding out if anyone has any experience using Blue Ox's KarGard Protective shield that attaches directly to the Blue Ox tow bar? (1) Does this actually protect the tow vehicle from road debris? (2) How easy or difficult is it to install and/or take-off? and (3) Is it worth the money, currently $305 or is there a better alternative that you would recommend?

Protect A Tow is the way to Go! Simple. For weekends, I only unhook safety cables, etc and the protect a tow from the towed and everything rolls up and hangs on the RV back bumper.

The Protect-a-Tow assembly looks very interesting. Assuming that the assembly goes under the towbar and associated cables, then the only place that I could see attaching to the rear of the motorhome would be to the rear bumper. However, as you can see from the attached photo, my hitch configuration is under the bumper system and also has a 2" drop in the assembly in order to better align with the baseplate on the front of our tow vehicle. Is the Protect-a-Tow assembly flexible enough to wrap under the tow bar assembly and still attach to the bumper? Are there any other issues that I should be aware of concerning the installation and use of the Protect-a-Tow assembly? Have you had to contact customer service and how has their response been?

Yes, by design, it goes under the tow bar with no issues. This also keeps your towbar and cables cleaner and reduces the buildup of road grime on the back of your RV from air swirl.
I have been using it for 50k miles and it has prevented any rock chips, including 5 miles of crushed rock on a detour where I could hear rocks that got stuck in the tread hitting the RV fender well.
I had one issue with the bungee wearing from rubbing against the safety cable near the hitch, which I remedied by covering that section with a piece of PEX. I don't have any experience with customer service because I didn't need them.

Oh, one other thing. I didn't like the looks of the eye-bolts sticking down from the cars air deflector when I wasn't towing it. I drilled the holes and clip the snap hooks right to the deflector. It's made of really thick plastic and has held up fine doing it like this.
