Brand New Owner of a 1998 Jayco Pop Up

Hi everyone!

I am a brand new owner of a 1998 Jayco Heritage Pop Up Camper! I am quite excited and hope that we really did get a good deal on this!

We have had a few mishaps in the few days that we have owned the camper. I pulled it from Stone Mountain, GA to Birmingham with my Jeep Wrangler and besides the fact that I could not hook up the lights because we had the wrong plug on the Jeep, it did fine. When I woke up in the morning to look at my new toy, we noticed that one of the tires was shredding! Made it home just in time, I guess!

Then we go to open the camper and apparently the kind man we bought it from forgot to remove the crank before I pulled off on my journey home. So, I could not open my camper but ordered a new crank on eBay, it should be here this week.

Today I woke up unable to wait for the crank and have asked my hubby to go to the hardware store to try to find something that will crank it up (yes, I have no patience!).

We looked for weeks at different pop ups and this one had a lot of bells and whistles the others did not have. Before I bought it I made sure those bells and whistles were working. Regardless, in the end I paid $2500 for the unit. Let's hope I got a good deal! If not, I will be sure to hear about it for the next decade!

There are some projects I want to do before it's maiden camping trip. I want to replace the curtains, get new mattresses and get a porta-potti tent as this one does not have a toilet (it's okay, I wouldn't have let anyone use it if there was one!).

Does anyone have any suggestions or pics of curtains that they made and hung in their popups?

Also, how big can I go on the mattress (height) or should I go with airbeds?

Same Pop-Up

I have the same pup-up and was wondering the exact some on the curtains and mattress. I have had my unit for three (3) years and have not found mattress that fit. We have just put a foam mattress over the present ones.
