Broken chassis brackets

2017 Alante. Discovered broken chassis brackets and cracked welds on structural beams attaching RV “box” to frame. Anyone have same issue? How and where did you get fixed? I’m located in Central Florida. Already contacted RV and commercial trucking service shops, trailer, frame and axle repair shops. Was Jayco any help?

Here is sample of damaged brackets. I’m looking for someplace to either weld or somehow reattach and safely secure chassis. Any ideas…suggestions. Im still in discussions with Jayco engineers.

Do the RV and Trailer Repair shops not want to touch it for liability reasons? Seem like a Trailer Frame Shop would jump right on it.

Personally I would keep pushing Jayco to get it corrected. How did you find that ? I'll be checking our frame out this week. Please keep the post updated with any resolution.

Jayco probably won’t do anything on a 2017 model, they have a tendancy to wash their hands at the two year mark. Worth a try though. If the trailer is Used, and you are not the 1st owner, forget it.

I believe he has a motorhome and if by chance he bought it new I would think Jayco should own up. On the other hand perhaps he purchased an extended warranty that might cover this type of claim. In any case I don't think a 4 year old motorhome should have this kind of damage without Jayco incurring the expense. Just my thoughts.

It’s a Class A with fuel and propane tanks underneath. Shops don’t want to use welding torches that can cause fire/explosion. We are original owners. Found problems when RV mobile repair person was trying to fix hydraulic jacks. (Still not fixed) Extended warranty claims it’s factory defect and Progressive denied bc it’s not caused by impact accident. Still talking with Jayco who turned over to engineering dept. will keep you posted.
Any suggestions to get repairs greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the typical he said she said or who's on first game. Hopefully Jayco will own up and take the reins on this. Good luck and please post any updates.

No Progress in finding someone to repair. Jayco is ignoring my calls and texts. Saying they’ll check with engineering but no follow up. So flustered.

Yes,,,,just drill a small hole in bracket and frame then bolt it to frame..Yes I know it will be tough to drill but if you can not weld it this is your option. Although I guess you could glue it to the frame. I drill my service trucks frames to attach things all the time with nuts and bolts…..

Stiffen it up with some side plates would make it stronger.

I don't know much about extended warranties. But, if the extended warranty folks say it's a factory defect, doesn't an extended warranty cover a factory defect? If not, what is an extended warranty for?

Not a warranty issue but mine may be an insurance claim. While inspecting under my rig before this trip, I found a bent equalizer bracket. I have no idea when this occurred but it appears to be from hitting a curb right between the curb side wheels.
I have an appointment when we get home to have it addressed.

Norty. Hope your insurance accepts claim. My Progressive insurance didn’t because I couldn’t prove how, where & when it occurred. And our extended warranty company denied claim saying it’s Jayco defect.
However, got messages that Jayco Managmenet is now involved and they will contact me Monday or Tuesday. I remain optimistic.

That can be welded. Welders and Ironworkers have fire blankets that they use to protect the area around the area to be welded.

Your family lawyer should be able to craft the necessary letter and signature for each of the entities for around $40. If (he) requires their contracts for review prior to, then it will be another $200 or so. If you don't have a family lawyer, then I can only guess the cost, but my point here is that the three companies you are dealing with are in the business of wearing you down, not cutting checks. Save yourself some extreme amounts of aggravation and time. It's worth the price.

Major update. Jayco is stepping up big time. They said they will pick up and take RV to their facility in Indiana and fix. Then return it to Florida.
