Campgrounds near Mammoth Cave KY

We are planning a trip into KY from WI.

We are going to spend a week doing some site seeing and relaxing in central KY. Looking for suggestions on places to visit and also a good campground to call home base for the week.

We want to see Mammoth Cave, and our 11 year old has a current fascination with the civil war so we need to find some places to foster that interest too.

Any good Suggestions? A campground with a pool or a nice beach and full hookups, or at least electric and water, and centrally located somewhere around Elizabethtown would be ideal.

I have a friend who highly recommends: Singing Hills Campground in Cave City. Also Caveland in nice and a little more expensive.
