We live in Illinois where only fireworks like sparklers and pop its are allowed. Does anyone know of campgrounds in Missouri or Indiana (close to the Illinois border) that allow different kinds of fireworks? We have not had any success when we have called campgrounds. We have a 2015 Jayco 1007 UD PUP if that makes any difference. Thank you!

I am guessing that the insurance companies for private campgrounds might have rules against fireworks. And most public campgrounds forbid fireworks for safety, noise and wildfire reasons.

Fireworks are not something that most people who go camping want to hear or experience.

No fireworks anywhere in the Black Hills (know it's not Missouri or Indiana)...doubt any campground would allow or condone fireworks, it's an open invitation to being sued if anyone got injured. Even in states where fireworks are legal, many cities or counties will not allow them to be set off.

Many other areas in the West, even if remote will not allow them due to fire hazards. Can go to the desert in Az and fire them...just a tad longer trip :)

The only campgrounds that we have stayed at that allowed them were in Myrtle Beach and they were only allowed on the beach, not actually in your campsite. But, South Carolina has much more relaxed rules than many others in regards to fireworks.

Im from SC and I have not seen a CG that allowed fireworks except on the beach at My Bh. Insurance and common sense prevail!
Even here!

If you ever do find a campground that permits fireworks, post it here so I know that's one that I never want to camp at. Can you imagine the danger of shooting rockets, roman candles and other devices that shoot burning material into the air in the presence of tents, awnings and flammable objects that are often grouped close together like sardines?

The question is ... [1] do you want to shoot-off fireworks or [2] do you want to see fireworks? I'd bet #2 is your objective and I agree with others, find a campground near either a large body of water over which they shoot the display, or near a large entertainment location such as Great America, Disneyworld, etc.. In many places it is legal to buy fireworks BUT illegal to shoot them off ~ house down the street burnt down due to an errant rocket.
