Making my way from texas coast to Georgia in late march.
will need a couple of rv parks or state parks along the Louisiana coast, any suggestions? dont want to do the new Orleans area. also maybe 1 stop in mississippi coast area.

all suggestions will be great.
first time going east of the mississippi. should be an adventure.
thanks in advance

In Mississippi, take a look at Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, Ms. Some sites are right on the bay, most are not. Close to Casinos ( if so inclined) and it is a nice little campground. A little over an hour east of New Orleans.

I used to go from Atlanta to DFW to see my son. On the way over we stopped at Poverty Point, a state park in Louisiana. Beautiful park , full hookups and inexpensive.

Thanks for the replies everyone.....cant wait to check them out. on the way out and on the way back.

Margaritaville (formerly Cajun Palms) in Henderson, LA is a nice place. Crawfish Town is adjacent to the park....good food. Check it out.

Sun Outdoors north shore (formerly reunion) is by far the best resort we have ever been to in this area. The new management and "dynamic pricing structure" has run most of the campers off by tripling the normal rates during the summer, but you can stay cheap in the off season. It is water focused so the lazy river and pools are likely cold in March but this place is a must see.

We drove to New Orleans from Mustang state park in Corpus. I would highly recommend my end Sam CD Houston state park. Nice Trails all new after hurricane and not too far from the Gato r bite distilllary. We then went to the C Bayou Segnette state park across the river from New Orleans nice spaces with full hookups tucked away you would never know you were 20 minutes from the French quarter. Restraints nearby and whole sale seafood a 100 yards from the park
Headed back north from there. Spent an overnight at on the Bayou a harvest host campground $20.00 a night with full hookup. In the middle of nowhere

May be a bit late, but… I am a claims adjuster, and spent 8 weeks in Lake Charles working Hurricane Laura in 2020. I stayed at the KOA Holiday in Scott, LA. Just west of Lafayette. Great place, nice brand new large patio spots right on a nice pond. And it’s great proximity to I10.

don't know how far you are in Texas but soon as you cross the state line here in Louisiana, there is one at the Vinton exit, north if vinton it is on the Red River bank, real nice, just a 10 minute drive east at Sulphur, righ on I-10, go North on hwy. 27 about 8-10 miles there is a sign on the right Halbrook park, lake on one side and the Calcasieu River on the other side, real nice, quiet, I think it around 12 dollars a day, and if you are following the coast line there is one on the edge of the Gulf but you cannot cross the ferry with a camper would have to come up the Sulphur, got on !-10 and go to the Chloe Exit(36) go south to get to the park, hope you have a safe and joyful trip, joe

X2 on Buccaneer state park. Also liked Meagher State Park just off I-10 in Mississippi. In Louisiana just west of NOLA, Bayou Segnette state park.
Brings back good memories of a trip along the gulf coast. Enjoy!!
