Camping Newbie

Hi everyone, I bought a 2011 Jayco 1007 on Friday and we took it out on our first trip Friday night. It was my first time camping. We went to a Jellystone Park with my 4 year old. When you ask him about his favorite part of when we went camping, it was that he got to eat a giant marshmallow and sleep in his 'wide' bed. To us, it was that we didn't think about work for 48 hours and it was like having a week off. It was fabulous!

We are planning our next trip to Pennsylvania in 3 weeks.. and a few other Wisconsin destinations. If anyone knows of great places in the midwest, please let me know. We live in a northern suburb of Chicago and go to Dayton all the time to visit our family.

So far we are loving the camper. Comfortable beds, great a/c, kitchen.. its just awesome. Having trouble figuring out the awning and I am specifically challenged in backing up with the camper - my husband is a lot better at backing it up. We are thinking of solving our awning issue by changing it out to a Carefree model - the $500 might be worth saving the marriage! :hihi:

I'll bet ya if you ask the guy at the site next to you to show you how the awning works, you'll be pleasntly suprised at how easy it is...and have a new friend. Anyone with a jayco would easily understand how it works. As far as backing it in, many times I watched my dad help folks out and back their units in for them...it will be a few times, but you WILL get this and it is FUN...enjoy!!!!

Welcome and congratulations on your new trailer. I have the power awning on my G2 and it is nice. I was worried about backing into a space on my first trip but it was easier than I thought. I went to my Church parking lot and practiced there. Find a WalMart or some place that has a big lot and practice a little, you'll get it in no time.
