On THIS thread, yes. But on most threads it is NOT there.

If it is, in fact, a time limit that has expired the Posting Rules should NOT indicate that you CAN edit your post.

Being a computer professional, I can understand why it seems confusing.

You have permission to edit your posts that are editable.

However, which posts that are considered editable, use a separate set of rules.

The moderators can explain much better than my guesswork.


(I found out the hard way that there is a 15 minute edit window on another forum I am a member of.)

The edit feature is usually available for some time after you post, but eventually goes away. I made a post a couple hours ago and the edit feature is no longer available. I have noticed this for quite some time.

So this sentence is an edit to this post. The button was there right away, but will not be in a few hours. I don't really know the timetable or the reasons, but just know that's the way I've seen it in the past.

I believe the edit window is 2 hours, at least it used to be. The reasoning supposedly being if posts are modified long after they are originally posted it could change the whole complexion of the thread and later posts may not make sense.

I think the edit option should be left there indefinitly. Reason, right now I have a few things in the for sale files. Messed up my email address and need to fix that and thinking of lowering the price but can not get in to do so. Can't delete the whole post and start over either. Other forums that I am a member of have these fethers on post all the time so you can make needed changes whenever.

As said earlier in this thread just ask a mod via PM and they will be glad to edit the posts in question.
