Not sure how many people use CBs anymore, but the group I travel with does and today I installed an antenna on my Alante. If anyone is interested in additional detail I'd be happy to fill them in. I don't think it came out too bad.

Looks good! Sure looks better than my magnetic mount on the roof of my pickup. ;)

Thanks! Hoping my seat of the pants wind drag calculation is correct. The mount is leaning about 5 degrees forward so at highway speed the antenna should be vertical. Unless I figured wrong, then who knows....

Is that a firestick ngp? Any pics from how you mounted cb and ran the antenna? Getting ready to do the same on my Precept. Was almost ready to just get a window mount antenna until I saw your post.

This is a Firestik NGP antenna. I'll post the pics I was able to take, but I did start to close it back up before I started taking pics. The mount requires two holes, the top is 13/32 to accomodate an isolater and the bottom is 3/16. There is a rubber gasket on the outside and a large(r) backing plate on the inside. I have an over the driver bunk, so I lowered it and took out the trim covering the lift mechanism. I marked on the inside and drilled pilot holes from the inside out with the smallest bit I could find, just to mark where to drill from the outside. There is a pic of the trim boards where I came in behind. Once the mount was on I just ran everything down the A-pillar. I think it came out pretty nice.

Nice neat installation cfisher. I use a CB handheld that plugs in the 12 volt port. I only use it when we come up on one of those dreaded interstate parking lots. Channel 19 can be handy on specific occasion but worthless to monitor.

I also have amateur radios that I am considering to install this spring when our snowbird trip is over. I have held off mostly due to the high noise level in the front when traveling at 62mph.
