My 2014 Greyhawk 31DS has ceiling lights with Halogen JC Type G4 Base bulbs. One by one they quit working. About half are not working. Sometimes reseating the bulb will start them working again but only temporarily. I will be taking the unit back to the dealer for repair. Has anyone had this issue and would share the resolution?

Our 5th has a total of 11 halogen lights in 2 different wattages (30 and 20 W I think). Ours are the "puck" type or flush-mount with a glass cover. I had 1 or 2 bulbs fail fairly quickly so I replaced the bulbs with LED units and have had no problems since. I understand the halogen bulbs will fail quickly if handled with bare hands (oil on your fingers). The LED's are MUCH cooler than the original plus have a much lower current usage. The color and lumens seem to be an excellent match. I bought a few extras so I wouldn't have to search for a replacement with matching color and brightness but have yet to need them. They've been in use about a year now (we're not full timers).

+1

I have replaced all of the ceiling lights with LED's plus the one over the sink and the outside light.

The main reason was boondocking as the halogens suck the battery dry pretty quickly.

We fulltime.

The 2014 31DS literature says it comes with LED bulbs. I have the same RV. All the ceiling lights, and the ones over the table, the front overhead bed, and the table are LED's. I would get the dealer or Jayco to replace them for free. I did find the lights over the kitchen counters, the shower, and over the bed were not LED's I replaced them myself. Thinking about hitting them up for the $$.

Bruce, Were your halogen bulbs with G4 base, and did you replace them with LEDs with G4 base? Was there any fixture modification?

Same base as the halogens, no modifications to the base or light fixtures. Plug and Play

Brett, the covers just turn about 1/4 turn (I don't remember which direction). Sometimes they can be very hard to get started, but they will come off. Maybe try using some kind of rubber pad to increase your gripping ability.
Good Luck!
