Does anyone know whether ceramic RV toilets use more water than the good old plastic ones? If they are automatic like a house toilet they may use 1.6 gals per flush give or take.

The only reason I ask is because my son just had his shakedown cruise and noticed that in 2.5 days of dry camping his monitor showed 2/3 and the toilet was gurgling. It was only 2 people using it. He mentioned that it used a lot of water.

My standard RV toilet has been known to go 4 or more days with 4 adults and 3 kids using it without filling it up. When it is just me and my wife it never gets to 1/2 tank. I always have to add a bunch of water to empty it.

Our porcelain one uses no more water than the plastic one we had before... . it's all about how much water you put in it to poo... the user gets to decide.

X2, pretty much same as plastic. I think my bowl may be larger, but water usage is controlled by the valve.

Could black tank size difference be a possibility?
