Changing Pinnacle Tires from "E" to "G" Rated

Our 35LKTS Pinnacle came from Jayco with made in China, Goodyear Marathons that are "E" Rated.
We will be traveling from Florida to Texas and on to California this year and are very concerned about these tires holding up under such a large heavy 5th Wheel and are looking at changing to "G" Rated tires before heading West.
Our rims that came on the Pinnacle are rated at 110 PSI by the rim manufacturer so we can make the change on the current rims.
Looks like the only "American Made" G Rated tire is the Goodyear G614 RST, but wow they are expensive.
There have been some negative comments on the Goodyear G614's in the past but looks like Goodyear has stood behind their product and has corrected their manufacturing process on the G614 RST.
Looks like our current plan is to bite the bullet and get the G614's unless someone has a better plan or idea.
Guess to help offest the cost, we will put the Marathons on Craigslist and sell them as they have less than 2k miles on them and are still in great shape and should work well on a lighter RV.

I have been running the G614 for two years with no problems. Make sure that you have proper clearance going from E to G. I highly recommend a tire monitoring system.

I changed my tires to the G last summer so far no problems, the OEM E tires had two wear out and one blow out. The G 's are heaver and they are stiffer I run the max tire pressure 60psi for the E tires because the I belive the rims are only rated for the E's. Also had the frame cross members installed by dealer there cost now I will have the morryde wet bolt kit installed when I get back home this will be my cost I will do this because of the heaver tires.

60 Psi sure seems low for a G Rated LT tire.

110 PSI = 3750 Load
100 PSI = 3550 Load
90 PSI = 3300 Load
85 PSI = 3170 Load

Our Pinnacle has the Sendel T03 - 8 Lug Rims

The Sendel website Spec Sheet shows the Load Rating of our rims at 3580 lbs @ 100 PSI which falls in line with using a G Rated Goodyear at 100 PSI = 3550 Lbs Load on our 7000 lb Dexter Axles.

Yes I was just wondering where the 60 psi came from. I have checked the rims on mine and they are rated for G tires if I decide to go that route.

I always run my E tires at the 80 psi pressure.

I agree, I always run my E Rated GY Marathons at 80.

Guess I need to got our Pinnacle weighted to see just how much weight is really on those Marathons.

Got a TST Tire Pressure and Temperature monitoring system today, installed and setup with no problem.

I too will be going to the G614's Rob, but since I only have 1,000 miles of towing scheduled for this year (two five hundred mile round trips) I'm going to wait until this time next year and hope I don't have a problem. I have the "E" rated Marathons now also.
I did weigh my Designer when it was loaded on my way to Florida last spring on my way to my host position. The weight on the trailer axles was 11,850 lbs (I have the Onan generator also per my signature line). So I was still within the weight range of the "E" rated tires, but I want a little more cushion with the "G" rated.
My wheels are also rated for 110 psi. I crawled under and looked at the wheels and that pressure is confirmed cast right into the inside of the wheel.
Now to float a loan to pay for the G614's. Whew!!!!!

Our Pinnacle's Dry Weight on the Jayco Label is 12,981 lbs

Just do not know how much we have added to it with Battery, Propane, etc and Stuff!!!!

Will try stop at a CAT Scale when we head back up to North Fla in a couple of weeks.

Would really like to upgrade to the "G" Tires before heading to Texas in March

The weight of mine, per the yellow label, as it left the factory was 13,181. That includes, per the label, full propane and full gasoline in the tank for the generator. That does include my generator as well.

When I weighed it last year I had added my "stuff" and had about 1/3 of a tank of fresh water. I had also replaced the original 12v battery (single) with two Trojan T105's.

Remember, the balance of the total weight is on the truck (pin weight), but the weight on the trailer axles per my weight last spring was 11,850 as I reported earlier.
