City Water Connector Threads

The city water hose connector on the trailer is plastic. My hose elbow is brass and when connecting it to the TT I am careful not to cross thread it. Still, if the threads do happen to get damaged how hard is it to replace? Wondering if over time and use of connecting and disconnecting if it starts to leak or if I do cross thread it. Maybe going to a plastic elbow will minimize the risk? Just curious. I've considered putting a quick connect on the elbow and just leaving it connected to the trailer.

Had to replace it on my last TT. Look for a couple of screws around the perimeter of the connector's flange.
Remove them and the fitting on the inside. Straight swap.


If you want to use a sacrificial plastic adapter to protect the OEM part, do it. It couldn't hurt.

Another alternative would be a right angle hose adapter (clicky). I think that a right angle adapter puts less strain on the hose and on the trailer's hose connection; it also makes the hose easier to connect because of the "wings" on the connector.

Thanks. I have that exact right angle connector and it is easier with the wings. I see the screws to remove the connector on the TT, didn't look prior, so now know I could replace it if I messed it up. I almost cross threaded it once so wanted to be sure should I actually mess it up. I did add one of those brass quick connect/disconnect snap hose connectors that also swivel. Not sure I will leave it on all the time but considering it.

I added a 45 deg. elbow on mine to reduced the strain. It never comes off.

I keep a 90 with a click hose connection on my waterline all the time. My city water is behind a small access door but the door has a 'port' for the water hose and the 90 sticks outside the door very nicely. This means I don't have to open the door to hook up the water.

I did create a 'cap' for this by putting a hose cap on a click connector that I snap on when the hose isn't connected- to keep bugs and stuff out.

I keep click connectors on each end of all my hoses and filters so hooking up water is easy.
