The RV has a camera that essentially is on the back of the RV, we can see the ground just directly behind the unit and 2 side views if we are turning the wheel. Unfortunately for me, I did drive a wonderful new small camper van with amazing back up support where I just have to stay within the two red lines or get them where I want to back. Loved that van, but I didn't the idea of having a smaller unpaid for traveler van :). Any recommendations on how I can somehow integrate a more modern back up system into my rig. The existing camera is useful, but for directly backing into a spot not at all useful. I see on amazon that there are wireless cameras for vehicles, Any recommendations? on what I technology , ways of getting it, places to get them attached, (if difficult) that would refine my options for backing? I know how to back-dah- I guide my husband flawlessly when I am standing outside using our wordless system to back her in, but I just can't trust myself being the driver. Hubby is too ill to drive anymore, so just looking for some user friendly ideas!

I think the red lines are built-in to the display (in-dash radio) and not from the camera(s). When I replaced my in-dash radio the backup camera red lines were available on the display (and adjustable) that were not available on the Jayco radio. Also, my camera points to close to the rear of the RV and it appears that it could be re-aimed although pointing the way it does allows me to see the toad and hitch connections so I haven't tried to re-aim it.

Point being, you likely will need a new radio to get the red backup camera lines or a backup camera system that has its own display. ~CA

I had to get a replacement camera that came on my RV with one I got from Walmart while on a trip in FL. When it got wet, it just crapped out. Since then, I also added a digital rear view mirror with camera input. The new camera that came with the rear view mirror points towards the back tucked under my rear emergency exit window. Now I can have both cameras on while driving. One that points down on the hitch, one points back like an actual rear view mirror.

Wow!! That is amazing. I like that idea. are there brand names involved ? and did you put them in yourself or did you have a service do it? I am not going to be the techy kind in that direction, as I don't do ladders and crawl on the top :). That rear view mirror will really be helpful, more normalizing. the one we have points at the ground when unless the direction signal goes on. Then there is help with that angle. I just do well with that, The straight backing up into a parking space is the scarry thing!

Thanks! Yes, I installed it myself. It's one line that goes from the mirror to the rear camera. The wire from the camera comes inside and fits between the gap of the rubber seal for the window. Since my Redhawk 31F has one huge slide that takes up the entire driver's side, I ran the line in the opening of the slide seal, then out onto the overhead bunk, which is the roof of the cab, toward the center of the windshield and down onto the mirror. Every model of the coach is different so you will have to find ways to run the line.

The name brand I got was AZDOME from Amazon. I bought it last year and it is no longer available. I did find a similar one below. It does have those lines for backing up you are referring to. Depending on how long your coach is, you may need a line extension. I think they only provide 15 ft. I had to get an additional 25 ft. due to the length of my coach. The bracket I used to mount the camera was a small angle bracket I bent and cut an opening for the line.

Below are the links for the mirror and extension line. The power plugs into your cigarette lighter on your dash. Now I have a long 10 ft. USB cable for power that I ran behind the dash, up the A pillar, and under the roof to the top of the mirror.

Another view of the rear camera/mirror without towing a car. Backing into a tight spot.
