Wednesday of this coming week, we will trade in our '08 Melbourne 29D for a 35 foot Class A. We've had the Melbourne for 4 great years, and it has given us very little trouble; nothing I could not repair. We averaged about 9.5 mpg over the course of 25K miles, with 2 trips to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, Southwest USA, Yukon Territory and Alaska, Wyoming and Montana, Louisiana, and Idaho, plus many local trips close to our beloved northern Arkansas.

Our RVing lifestyle has changed over the course of these several years; now we tend to stay for 5 to 8 weeks in commercial parks, and the Melbourne gets a little close for the two of us as the days pass. We want to be able to lightly entertain, want more kitchen counters, and more comfortable seating. We're staying with a gasoline engine, and dread the reduction in mpg. It will be very difficult to beat the last 4 years!

I'll continue to lurk, but my usefulness in making comments and answering questions has just about come to an end. This is a good website, and for your sake, I hope Jayco reads the comments, as I'm beginning to here more and more complaints about their quality. Tread lightly, and have safe travels.

We owned a 35 foot Class A for 5 years and had some great adventures in it. We "downsized" to a 31DS this spring, and it is just so much more relaxing for my husband to drive.

We are however finding the quality issues in the Jayco to be annoying and irritating. And wondering what will happen when our warranty period is over.

Good luck to you.

Flytyer2 - good luck, and thanks for your input on this forum.
You didn't identify which class A brand/model you opted for - don't leave us in suspense!
Also, regardign Jayco reading posts on this forum - must say that I'm disappointed that (unless I've missed it) we *never* see comments from a Jayco rep on here. I was told my someone in customer service awhile back that they do monitor and comment on this site. They may monitor it, but I don't recall ever seeing posts about issues that arise here.

Second the QC issues at Jayco

New to RV. Looked a lot of units decided on a 26A. Layout no issue but Jayco has some quality issues. Mainly assembly (like the incorrect mounting of the propane gas grill rail requiring re-welding and new hose). I opted for the tankless hot water heater and it appears to be GPM flow issue (not enough to allow for correct temperature). The battery box is really low quality and the wiring on the tank level sensors is too exposed (connections).

Congrats on the upgrade to your new Class A Flytyer2! We'll miss ya, but if you pop in to "lurk", post a 'hello' and let us know how it's going :)
