After reading the responses here I may be remembering my experience incorrectly. Perhaps I wasn't signed in at all. But I was allowed to enter an entire post and click post reply and then I'm told I'm not logged in. When I log in, the page comes back blank, with only the heading and never displays anything else. Then I close the page and start over.

That would definitely explain your issue.

Sometimes there are time-out issues on certain forums, I don't know if it happens here or not. One way around that is to type your long post in a text document and then when you want to post it just copy and paste it to the post.

On this forum, I never log out. When I open this forum, I click on "new posts" and see all the new posts since my last visit. So if you visit here often, I wouldn't log out at all, there is no need to.
