Hey all.

I am considering a purchase of a used jayco. I am not sure of the exact year as the current owner listed as early 2000s. The statement in the ad is everything is perfect about the pop-up except the cranking system. This is the statement they made "currently has issues with cranking system and will not stay open."

This would be my first pop up owned and we are a pretty handy family. I'm just not sure exactly what this means for repair. Does it even make sense to move forward with the purchase or should I absolutely stay away? Thanks for your input!

Everything is relative. The first thing is to personally inspect the pop up and see first hand what they may be relating to in the ad. As an alternative direction I would think that there are plenty of pop ups for sale and this time of year after their long winters nap a lot of units will come out of hibernation and be for sale. So you may have plenty to pick from of a wide range of conditions. Of course if this particular unit is not close, its always a gamble to see it in person. So weigh the drive to your want of gambling to be disappointed, if this unit will not stay up or difficult to get up in its proper operating location.

While price may be the driving force that directs you to this particular unit, of course layout may be the second reason. So think logically as to how much work you are willing to put into something that truly does not work correctly, with the short season in your region of New York, in particular. , Just my opinion and my view from a distance.............
