Hello! I have a Jayco 2007 popup camper. I started using a drill as the power up mechanism last year and at the end of the season put it away with the socket stuck in the mechanism and the top not staying up (when I stop cranking, it simply does not stay up).

Will I have to replace the crank or "winch" mechanism or if I get the socket off will the rachet start catching again?

Any help or direction would be great.

figured it out

The socket I used was stuck in the crank which unlocked the rachet mechanism. When I was able to remove the socket, the lock nut / spring was able to take over and put the pressure on the clutch/brake of the crank to engage the anti release mechanism (sorry - don't recall the correct words). Now the system works and I realize that I cannot use a socket to raise and lower the camper unless I want this to happen again. One to figure out another method to power up and down the top other than human power.

I’m curious about the size of socket you used and wondering how it reached the winch. I have a 2008 model 1206 and the crank is square and several inches away from the winch
