crappy screen door

If your rig came with one of those sliding screen doors. How is it working and are you having any issues with it? tried to adjust mine and it is very hard to slide and is scrapping the top and bottom guide rails.
Bringing it to the dealer to look at but I kind of thinking I am eventually going with a magnetic screen. Cannot see this screen working very well into the future.

Can you post a picture? I have not seen the one you describe. The one on my 2011 rig looks just like the one on my last 10 year older rig. They must be using up all the old stock?

Yours sounds like mine and it works just fine. I wounder if you have some injection mild flashing, that needs some waring off.

Norty, I once had a boos who was a narcissist. (for real...psych nurse over here)

She once said in a meeting "I pretty much know everything. If I find something I don't know, I just learn about it, then I know." She was 100% serious.

You learn early on, if you're the unfortunate one to have to endure a narcissist as your superior, you will NEVER win, when gong head to head. You fly below that radar and hope for the day they leave for a new job.

Thanks goodness, she lasted 'only' about 3 years and there was never reason for her to want to spend time making my life miserable.

I know now, you are a smart man, who knows a whole lot. A truly smart person will admit to when they don't know something and is willing to learn or seeks to be taught.

Long, long ago and far away in a call center, I had a similar boss who used to constantly rub a bolt and a nut between his fingers in his right pocket. When he wasn't correcting everything we said and how we said it, he spent his time correcting how we fit our headset on our head, how we sat in our chair, and how we placed our fingers on the keys to write. He dominated everything, everyday. We were all miserable. Whew! Glad that ended!

We all have had one. I was able to escape after a 8 year run. We did get a break for a month when he had a hemorrhoid operation. When he came back the word was now he was a perfect one!

My screen door is having issues, i think same as yours. I found out that the top rail wasn’t smooth, it was jagged a bit, causing it to have trouble sliding. I think it may be from paint dripping when they built it. I think sanding it down would fix it.

I actually cleaned and tried something it out with very done sandpaper. It was getting gouged by the door track. Didn't helpu h. It's doing it again.

I have the same screen, and mine works okay. I read somewhere, or my wife did, that an owner used some tool, maybe a screwdriver, to slightly spread the rails, which allowed the screen to slide more freely. I will try it when the time comes.


If you're wanting to get screen for the rear doors, I bought one of those magic mesh screen doors on Amazon, and it fits almost perfectly. And so much more affordable than the custom fit RV screens.

Had the door fixed but still hate it. Plastic sliding on a metal track is not the best way to rely on. Annoying to open and close . Too much effort. I'm probably going with this in the near future

I found that using 2 hands, 1 high and 1 low, helps a lot.

I sprayed mine with silicone lubricant and it has helped.

Screen Door String Frayed

Hello I have the same bug screen door and am having the same issues such as not being a smooth slide and hearing scraping I tried the silicone WD it only helps me a little. It is a crappy screen door design.

Now, beware the string has frayed on mine and the screen is now inoperable see pics. Using string was such a design flaw I knew it would not last long but I wasn't paying attention to it slowly fraying. This is also maybe why the slide is not smooth. The string rubbing on the plastic guides.

They should have used small thin metal wire.

Now I contacted my dealer and they are in contact with the vendor to replace the whole thing. The dealer wants to order the whole part(s) The vendor tells them they can repair it. So now they are going back and forth. If anything just the sliding door screen with the string would need to be replaced. The frame is fine. Or just new string if they (the dealer service dept) can restring it. It's under warranty so I am not going to try and fix it myself - restring it myself with braided fishing line

But I would like to know can I try ordering the part (sliding screen door w/string ) myself from Jayco? Seems like the dealer might be giving me the runaround too.
