Hello Jayco Community,

I am a little late de-winterizing my coach but this is the first opportunity I have had. This past winter was my first time ever winterizing by coach (2017 Jayco Northpoint) and this is my first time de-winterizing it. I have the colored valves that made the process pretty easy...just set them up for winterize and do it.

Now I want to de-winterize and am wondering how I should have the colored valves set. Do I set them to "City Water" and flush out all my lines or leave them set on "Winterize" and flush out my lines?

Thank you in advance for your help.

If you set them to city water then you will likely put antifreeze solution into your water heater. I would flush the lines out in the winterization position therefore bypassing the water heater. When everything is flushed then go to city position. I would also recommend sanitizing the system before you use it. I always do that at the beginning of the season.

Thank you. I really appreciate the information. When you say sanitize the system...what is involved in that process?

I use the procedure in the camper owner's manual using bleach and water mixture. Mix 1/4 cup of bleach in 1gallon of water for every 15 gallons of tank capacity. (Example: 45 gallon fresh water tank would take 3/4 cup of bleach and 3 gallons of water mixture). I put that into the fresh water tank using the pump and then put the appropriate amount of water in the fresh water tank. (I have a water flow meter and use the city water/power fill to fill the tank. I then draw from the fresh water tank to fill all of the lines until I smell bleach coming from each water spigot, both hot and cold sides. I usually let that set in the system overnight. The next day drainfresh water tank and flush everything with fresh water until the bleach smell goes away

On my water panel one of the handles/knobs will not allow water to the hot water tank. If you have a separate valve make sure it is in the water heater bypass position. Hope that helps.

That's awesome. Thank you so much for taking the time to lay all that out for me. I am relatively new to this winterize and de-winterize so really appreciate it.

Leave the plug out of the water heater with door open. When you get ready to go to city setting, let the water run through the heater to flush it out a little. Then put the plug in and open the temp and pressure relief valve until water comes out, then close it.
