Does This Sound Right

I have a 2016 Ford F-150 with tow package and I tow a 2017 Jayco WhiteHawk 24RKS. Since day one I get repeated "Advance Trac Warning Failure" on my dash. After five visits to 3 different Ford dealers they tell me the trailer is too long for the F-150. My weights are within specs. Any thoughts.

How does that make any sense? I have a 2017 F150 5.0L, towing a jayco 28bhbe which is 33ish long and I don't have any issues. Are you only getting the warning when towing? Did they confirm the traction control is okay?

I assume you are using a weight distributing hitch, right?

I only get the warning when towing and yes I have a weight distributing hitch. They did replace a sensor in the steering column which helped but did not eliminate the problem.

No, in fact it happens when I am leaving a gas station or restaurant and moving at 15-20 mph and making a left or right turn to get out of the driveway.

In that case it sounds like during turns at slow speeds it applies uneven forces to the rear of the truck and this triggers the AdvanceTrac warning.

What kind of hitch do you have? Have you applied any grease to the ball? If you haven't the bars aren't turning smoothly.

While turning do you hear loud noise coming from the hitch/bars?

Also what kind of ball do you have? Some hitches requires a ball that is short threaded shank so that the bar sockets don't contact the shank during tight turns.

It sounds like you have a good point with the uneven forces. One dealer told me that it is a gyro affair that could be sending the signal to the advance trac. I have a four point equalizer hitch which I do lube but it is still noisy. The ball shank is short so the bars are not hitting it. Thank you all for you input. I really appreciate your help.

For what it’s worth this summer I have been towing a 2018 jayco 322rlok that is listed as 38.5 feet using a hensley arrow and my 2018 f150 with the max tow (12,700 lbs)

It tows great no sway, no complaints from the truck.

I haven’t gotten the towing assist to work with the hensley.

I have noticed a little more bounce on rough back roads and am thinking of installing some ride rite airbags to stiffen up the suspension a bit.

I also have the propride hitch same concept as the Hensley. I installed ride rite airbags in my f150 and it does indeed help, however the rear shocks on the f150 are to soft which is causing proposing which is what your facing. Will be upgrading my rear shocks to the fox 2.0 which will illuminate that completely.

We tow a 27RLS in the WV Mountains with our F-150 and have never had a problem. We did have this error once or twice but it went away.

Reason why I went with the ride rite airbags vs air lift, it still makes the ride smooth when your not towing. Thr air lift 5000 model will make the ride way to stiff, it's more for f250/350 frames. When no load I would put around 10psi which helps stiff the ride abit which is good because the rear shocks are way to soft for the f150 but not to much where it's uncomfortable.


When towing with my old hitch I would pump them up to 55psi, with my propride hitch I did 35. More then 35 I find it gave more porpoising.
