I have a Dometic (Penguin?) roof AC on my 2019 x213. It worked fine so far, but during our recent 2 week summer trip, it started a gurgling noise about halfway through the trip, then, on the last day, it started dripping water inside, and when turned off, a few cups of water dumped onto me. I didn't have a ladder with me on the trip, so no way to get onto the roof to diagnose.
I thought it would be an easy fix, probably the drain hole plugged. However, after coming home and taking the cover off, the drain cup and the hole looked perfectly clean. However, the return air filter was almost 100% clogged. My bad, I haven't cleaned it in 5 years of use. Could a clogged air filter cause the above symptoms? Everything else, like condenser and evaporator, looked pretty clean. My guess is that the AC iced up due to the reduced air flow and the ice clogged up the drain. Has anyone experienced this?
One last question, there is a thermocouple hanging in the air return vent. Is this a thermostat? Or is this the ice sensor that is in the wrong place, see picture below? I thought the ice sensor would be inserted into the evaporator, but there isn't anything that I see that looks like it.
