Drove with air suspension valves open. Ugh!

Chaulk it up to being out of RV mode for too many months with winter. I just drove home from storage with the suspension valves (installed aftermarket) open. I just thought the highway was particularly bumpy but realized the problem when I got home.

Any of the experts have a feeling that damage may have been done? Is there an evaluation or check I should have done or is it merely a rough ride that I had to tolerate?

I doubt there would be any damage, when the air is let down, the suspension sits on steel stops. I installed electric solenoids so this wouldn’t happen, once yiu release the momentary switch, they close. If I had a manual setup, I would probably make it a habit of closing the valve as soon as it dumps. When I park, I do t dump the air, it leaks down in a week or two by itself.

Did your bags re-inflate? If they did and you are holding air with the rig off you are probably ok.

I can sympathize! We had medium-duty ambulances that had rear air suspensions we could dump to allow us to more easily load/unload the patients. Worked off door switches which failed far too often. Talk about a rough ride for a patient on a backboard!

I agree with the others. So long as the bags hold air you likely are fine. But you might consider a fail-safe like Rustynuts has to prevent a reoccurrence.
