I just checked our roof on our new 2024 Jayflight 225mls. We have not camped in it yet, and will not until April. The sealant looks to be a little light on the roof, compared to our Grand Design that we Traded. I'm very anal with my stuff, I thinking in the spring when we get one of them nice warm days, taking Eternabond tape, and going around everything with 4" tape, for piece of mind. I have used it in pass years with good results. Any opinions?

That is a good plan. I waited until I needed to do my first touch up. At that point I had a lot more roof cleaning to do. I applied it over the existing Deco. I used a roll of 6" along the front cap seam as the deco was wide and messy in a few areas.

We have a new 5ver on order, that will be one of my first tasks.

I will do mine in spring, mine is parked behind my garage, so roof shouldn't be to dirty, no trees. What did you use to clean off before taping?

Exactly what I'm going to do in the spring. I had planned on getting it done already but was too busy using the RV during the season.

I have a roll of 4" x 50' tape sitting beside me waiting to go :)
My roof and the dicor look good to me but it's going on 8 years old...in the spring I'm planning also to do that front cap seam, and on the sidewalls of the slide out where that screwed on trim is top and bottom...both areas look vulnerable to me so preventive maintenance/tape is necessary I'm afraid :)

I started to just do the front metal to rubber transition. I found one screw badly rusted under the Dicor and one just missing when I took off the Dicor. After that I just kept going and did my antennas, roof vents, AC intake vent and around the vent pipes. Now all have had the Dicor removed and replaced with 4 inch or 2 inch Etearnabond.

I have used a thetford brand rubber roof cleaner in the past, I have seen a similar product at Walmart that is marked rubber roof cleaner in the rv section.

I have also had good luck with the old standby, Ajax but lately I have used spray bottle of Simple Green. I scrub it with a car wash brush ans a smaller brush for tight places around roof openings.

What ever you use, be sure to rinse the runoff on the sides well.

I have an appointment early May in Kalispell with a Flex Armor dealer/installer. Going to deal with the roof once and be done with it.

While I used to go with the standard Dicor treatment, Frankly the stuff that is slated for the regular yearly treatment is like water. So I upgraded to the poor man's Armor stuff, and a hybrid of materials for mobile homes called Gaco. I will say that once you open the gallon can, use it all. It does not stay liquid even with the lid placed back on it. Trim your edges and around the parts first. Then roll the rest of the roof. Tape the gutters off along the sides and the back end before you start.

One of the best decisions I've made for the 5th wheel.Nice to not have to worry about it when you run into low branches etc.

Go for it, Eternabond is great stuff!
We've used plenty on the roof and it's held well.

Apply in warm dry weather.
Wash the area and rinse well, should be dry and non-oily to the touch.
I use a rag lightly saturated with acetone to wipe down and clean before taping.
Tape small area at a time, do not stretch, overlap as needed.
After applying a section, I roll it firmly with a brayer.

Eternabond tape is a great product. I've used it extensively on my own camper (2015 23R:cool:. My only advice is don't use it on an extremely hot day. The hotter the weather, the stickier and hard to work with it is.

I'm not planning on removing the existing dicor along the front cap roof seam. It's a good looking seam no more than 2" wide and smooth. I do plan on cleaning the area well then a final wipe with rubbing alcohol and going right over the dicor with the 4" tape? I have a roller and will wait for the perfect weather to attempt/apply :) Also planning on doing the trim on the sides of my slide out top and bottom, and probably over the existing tape along the outside edge of the slide out roof. I'm not having any issues yet...this is all insurance and/or planned preventive maintenance :)
