It's official, I pick up my X17Z on Friday, upgrading from a small Rockwood pop-up. Very happy and excited, but nervous too as this will be my first experience dealing with a bathroom, furnace, water heater, etc. I sure hope the dealership checks everything out and shows me what to do!

Take your time at the walk through. Don't let them rush you. Take good notes.

Get a 3 ring binder and keep every manual they give you.

Don't sweat it.... You WILL learn as you go. Just like the rest of us, and, if you have any questions, there is a community of experience on this site that will help you

To increase your comfort zone call the dealer in advance and advise him that you want to preform a thorough PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection), also mention that if the weather is bad to pull the trailer indoors for the inspection.

Whats important is when the dealer is explaining how the furnace, frig, A/C, etc., work, make sure you go through the actual process of starting the furnace up, A/C, etc...., not just a verbal walk-thru.

Below is a very detailed PDI, I would make a copy and highlite the items that you feel are applicable to the trailer you are purchasing.

Don't sweat it. I too stepped up from a PUP to a 25' Jayfeather as my first TT. It was a little overwhelming, and I forgot half of what was explained to me during the PDI. After our first trip or two I figured out that it was all pretty simple stuff, and nothing to be worrying about. If you have questions, the good folks here, or a call to your dealer, will get your answers you need. Relax, don't worry and enjoy!

Me three. Graduated from a PUP to the 16XRB. Lordy you are gonna be even more over the moon than you already are. And the first time you are out camping and get to use that bathroomand shower????.....aaahhhhhh. Guess it's a girl thing. And storage when you're used to having none - fan-freakin'-tastic! I really enjoyed "playing house" when I first got mine and set it all up with permanent stored stuff - where to keep kitchen items, toiletries, and also decorating, etc.
Anyway congrats!! I looked at the model you're getting very closely before buying but it was a bit too heavy for my TV. It is so nice. Remember that cookie dough for your first trip. And ice cream.
One thing I knew leaving the dealership - that I had this forum for help with questions and they haven't proven anything but awesome here! Please show us photos when you get settled.

Welcome from Kalamazoo! There is a handful of Kzoo natives on the forum. Did you get your trailer from Quality Products in Plainwell?

Make sure your PDI is on the job training. "Teach me to fish, don't hand me a fish." If you haven't done so yet in your life, obtain a composition book and start a log of all your new adventures in your trailer. Makes for some good reading in the winter and helps me remember where/when we camped, what site we were on and much much more. Some day when I'm on my death bed I'm going to read through it again for my last camping 'trip'.

You'll be fine. Its really a lot of fun, not like buying a car which is usually like having a tooth pulled. Yes, ask about a PDI. But a really good dealer will do a PDI without your asking, and will not let you leave until you tell them you are comfortable with everything.

If you have time, see if the dealer can get you an owner's manual before your PDI. Or you might be able to get it from Jayco (I don't know what the url is, but some can be downloaded). Review it before your PDI and make a list of questions (write them down so you don't forget in the excitement of the moment).

Thank you for all the great advice! I feel more prepared and know what I should. Now I can just be excited and look forward to bringing it home this weekend and stocking it up and heading to Fort Custer to camp the first nice weekend. Long overdue with this year's winter!

Yes, I fell in love with this unit at Quality Products in the fall. they had an awesome price on it. Looked at some other brands, but wasn't 't swayed. Was surprised they still had it in their inventory. Feel like it was truly destined to be mine.

Please report back on Fort Crusty. I was there a couple of years back and the road from M96 to the gate looked like one in Iraq after operation Saddam Hussein. There was also a group of about 60 people from Chicagoland playing fiesta music until about 1:30 AM when my brother in law went over and asked them to stop. I'm glad my kids didn't go with us that time as I would not have been comfortable letting them ride bikes alone. We never saw the camp host the whole weekend.

Lol mcfarmall! I can happily report that they have a beautiful drive now. I took the PUP out their that fall for one last trip while they were repaving. Had to take an alternative gravel entrance that was all mud puddles. No problem for the jeep but the poor pup - thought it was going to be swallowed up whole. Mud everywhere. Good think it was like a monsoon all weekend. Mother Nature was kind to clean the vehicles. Honestly not sure which was worse.

I like going there in the off season (less hassle with ppl) or for a quick weekend trip. Please let me know your favorite local campgrounds. Would make it worthwhile now for a full hookup cg.
