Any opinions on weather extended warranty's and roadside assistance is worth it? I have National RV Care now that I paid for at the dealer when I bought my 2022 Precept. It is for 60 months but not sure what it covers. The paper work is very vague. I know Good Sam is out there I constantly get e mails. Or are they all a waste of money? Just interested in your thoughts.

Have you tried using the search feature to look up this issue? There are many, many threads discussing extended warranties and the goods and bads.

Top of the page in the gold bar.

Some folks like an extended warranty, and others do not. Whatever the company and plan level is, look at the "exclusions" listed on the plan. There can be a lot of them. There are members here that suggest putting money aside in an interest-bearing bank account for the sole purpose of RV repairs that are outside of the warranty period.

As far as roadside assistance, we do have that, only because that feature that's included in our auto policy doesn't cover a towed trailer or RV. We've never had to use it to date, and it's like an insurance policy. You have it if you need it but may never need to.

After reading dozens of threads on multiple platforms every roadside assistance company has come through and saved someone's vacation. The same companies have also left people stranded for hours or days. YMMV

I've been self insuring extended warranty plans. After forty years I'm currently about $25,000 to the plus. From cars to cell phones. If you have the discipline, put the money in savings and have it available when you need it.

Regarding Roadside assistance, I have also read many reports of very poor service including some (GoodSam I believe) where when you call you speak to a person in another country that doesn't understand your situation clearly.

In any case, my insurance has roadside coverage which is pretty simple. What it provides is up to $500 reimbursement and I can call any place I choose for assistance and if needed a tow to anywhere I choose with the understanding my reimbursement is only going to be $500 (or actual cost if less). So far I haven't even used it and have had it for 20+ years. Also, if needed there is a number you can call where they will help you find assistance but calling for assistance isn't required for coverage. ~CA

In 2022, We did a 7yr for $5,695.00, $200 deduct. with Wholesale, their Viking Elite package for our 2021 RV.

Jury still out but did cover tierods/labor recently. Peace of mind I guess.

But as another poster mention, set aside some cash, maybe put in liquid SGOV etf. Rates slowly going down though.

As far as roadside, we have with Progressive, we do all cars, home + RV.

We really need a sticky thread on the topic. Currently we have two on the front page.

Towing, extra warranty

We have both and it has totally been worth it and paid for themselves. Slide has quit working twice and been covered under the extended warranty and had to be towed once (5th wheel) and it was over $1000.

Extended warranty-No/Roadside assistance-Yes--Coach-Net

I have never gotten extended warranties. Very few people recommend them, outside the companies selling them

I have Coach-Net for roadside assistance. One experience using them that went very well for us. Couple years ago, we were on the last day of a cross-country round trip CA-New Hampshire-back. August, I-40 west of Kingman AZ, temp 100+, motorhome left rear outside dually exploded. Made cell phone contact with an American at Coach-Net & initiated the service call. While awaiting action, I was able to call a nearby tire repair shop myself & get them rolling. Next time I talked to Coach-Net, I told them what was happening and they agreed to pay their full share of the bill. I just paid for the tire. Being Arizona, I got a top-quality tire for a lot less than what I paid-each-for the other five new tires when I got home

CAG, it's good to see you still on this forum. Your advice is valuable & valued!
